US Fish & Wildlife Service Carson National Fish Hatchery

SCOPE OF WORK

PREDATOR FENCE REPLACEMENT

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Carson National Fish Hatchery has a requirement for a Predator Fence Replacement.

DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK

The predator fence in the upper bank needs to be replaced and the spalling concrete repaired to anchor the fence in. The current fence on the south, west, and north sides is only four feet high and needs to be replaced with a six foot fence for better predator exclusion.

GENERAL

The Contractor shall furnish all planning, design, labor materials and equipment to perform the tasks detailed in this scope of work. The work shall include, but is not limited to the items below.

SCOPE

The upper bank of raceways is is a bank of 18 standard sized (89 feet x 8 feet) raceways that measures 156 feet by 89 feet and is fenced around all four sides. The fence along the east side is 8 feet high galvanized cyclone with one inch mesh. The other three sides, the south, west, and north sides are fenced with a 4 foot tall fence. This project will remove the 4 foot fence along the south (89 feet), west (156 feet), and `north (89 feet) sides and replace it with a 6 foot tall galvanized cyclone fence with a 1 inch mesh. There is one 4 foot wide gate along the south side and three 3 foot wide gates along the west side. There are no gates along the north side. All measurements should be verified by the contractor and work includes the following:

· Remove and dispose of old fence and gates (334 total feet).

· Repair spalling concrete along curb along south (89 feet), west (156 feet) and north (89 feet) sides.

· Install 89 feet of 6 foot galvanized wire cyclone fence with 1” mesh along south side with one 4 foot wide gate near the west end – one foot from the corner to five feet. Posts should also be six feet tall with 2 7/8” to 3” outer diameter posts. These posts should be used for all three sides (south, west, and north). Predator exclusion strips consisting of a 1.5” flat piece of metal approximately 1/8” thick should be installed in the gaps between the fence post and gate to prevent mink from squeezing through (see photo). All gates should open inward.

· Install 156 feet of 6 foot galvanized wire 6 foot galvanized wire cyclone fence with 1” mesh along the west side with three 3 foot gates. The first gate should be 25 feet from the southwest corner, the second gate should be installed 77 feet from the southwest corner and the third gate should be installed 129 feet from the southwest corner and 24 feet from the northwest corner. These gates should incorporate the same predator exclusion pieces as the south side gate and open inward.

· Install 89 feet of 6 foot galvanized wire cyclone fence with 1” mesh along the north side utilizing the same posts as used for the south and west sides. There are no gates to be installed on the north side.

PLACE/DELIVERY AND PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

Work will be performed at:

U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Carson National Fish Hatchery 14041 Wind River Hwy Carson WA 98610

Work will be completed by October 31, 2022.

Payment:

Invoice(s) will be approved by the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) prior to uploaded to IPP.gov by October 31, 2022.

INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE

Inspection and Acceptance will be determined by the COR or Technical Coordinator/Hatchery Manager or his designee.

GOVERNMENT FURNISHED EQUIPMENT OR INFORMATION

The Contractor will furnish all labor, equipment, materials, supplies, parts, tools, and service as specified in the description of Contract Scope above.

AVAILABILITY

This work can be made during weekday duty hours, Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or at other times with approval of the Complex Manager or Hatchery Manager.

SITE VISIT:

Contact the Technical Coordinator to set up and time and date for the site visit. A site visit is recommended.
