SPECIFICATIONS

Project: UT Birm Filters for Ouray NFH-Randlett Unit PR Number: 40592054 Item: Birm Water Filter Media

1. Product Features

Name of Item: 280 Cu/Ft of Birm Water Filter Media delivered to Randlett, UT Part Number: MBM/A8006 a component (media) for the water filter Salient Characteristics: A granular filter media commonly used for reduction of iron and manganese from water supplies (our wells) Capabilities: (if applicable): Reduction of dissolved iron and manganese compounds from raw water supplies (wells). Acts as an insoluble catalyst to enhance the reaction between dissolved oxygen (D.O.) and the iron compounds. The physical characteristics of Birm provide filter media which is easily cleaned by periodic backwashing to remove the precipitant. It is not consumed in the iron removal process and therefore offers a tremendous economic advantage over many other iron removal methods.

Salient Characteristics:

Bulk Density: 40-45 lbs./cu. ft.

Mesh Size: 10 x 40 Specific Gravity: 2.0 gm/cc Effective Size: 0.48 mm Water PH Range: 6.8-9.0 Dissolved Oxygen (D.O.) content must be equal to at least 15% of the iron (or iron and manganese content) Certified to ANSI/NSF Standard 61 Classified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. in accordance with ANSI/NSF 61

Capabilities (if applicable): These Birm Water Filter Media will reduce our levels of manganese and iron from our wells at Ouray NFH providing a better growth environment for raising our endangered fish species in our ponds and tanks.

2. Delivery

Prices quoted must be FOB Destination “F.o.b. destination” means --Free of expense to the Government delivered, on board the carrier’s conveyance, at a specified delivery point where the consignee’s facility (plant, warehouse, store, lot, or other location to which shipment can be made) is located; and Supplies shall be delivered to the destination consignee’s wharf (if destination is a port city and supplies are for export), warehouse unloading platform, or receiving dock, at the expense of the contractor. The Government shall not be liable for any delivery, storage, demurrage, accessorial, or other charges involved before the actual delivery (or “constructive placement” as defined in carrier tariffs) of the supplies to the destination, unless such charges are caused by an act or order of the Government acting in its contractual capacity. If rail carrier is used, supplies shall be delivered to the specified unloading platform of the consignee. If motor carrier (including “piggyback”) is used, supplies shall be delivered to truck tailgate at the unloading platform of the consignee, except when the supplies delivered meet the requirements of Item 568 of the National Motor Freight Classification for “heavy or bulky freight.” When supplies meeting the requirements of the referenced Item 568 are delivered, unloading (including movement to the tailgate) shall be performed by the consignee, with assistance from the truck driver, if requested. If the contractor uses rail carrier or freight forwarder for less than carload shipments, the contractor shall ensure that the carrier will furnish tailgate delivery when required, if transfer to truck is required to complete delivery to consignee.

Contractor responsibilities. The contractor shall -- (1)(i) Pack and mark the shipment to comply with contract specifications; or

(ii) In the absence of specifications, prepare the shipment in conformance with carrier requirements;

(2) Prepare and distribute commercial bills of lading;

(3) Deliver the shipment in good order and condition to the point of delivery specified in the contract;

(4) Be responsible for any loss of and/or damage to the goods occurring before receipt of the shipment by the consignee at the delivery point specified in the contract;

(5) Furnish a delivery schedule and designate the mode of delivering carrier; and

(6) Pay and bear all charges to the specified point of delivery.

3. Delivery Location:

Product shall be delivered to the following location:

4. Installation:

No installation involved, the USFWS Ouray NFH employees are providing the labor for installing the water filter media components themselves.

6. Delivery Instructions:

No later than three days prior to delivery, please notify the Point of Contacts listed above, to arrange a specific time for delivery. Unloading the product is the sole responsibility of the delivery carrier. No labor or equipment will be provided by the government to unload the supplies.

Delivery will only be accepted during the business hours of 8:00am thru 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, no delivery during Federal Holidays, or weekends.

The security gate locks at sundown, any breakdown in the delivery due to adverse weather, on-going construction, congested traffic conditions, accidents, etc. should be shared with the points of contact as soon as possible.

7. Customer Specific Delivery requirements:

Please note, the delivery location cannot accommodate vehicles that are longer than 30’.
