About this file
This document contains technical specifications for 16 Gavial Transducers required under Solicitation Number N0016723Q0199 from the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command. The specifications include requirements for rewiring, modifying the transducer puck dimensions, adding grounding and hardware, passing hydrostatic testing, and providing calibration data on impedance, conductance, sensitivity, directivity patterns and transmission/reception ranges for each transducer element at various operating frequencies between 10-100kHz for shipboard use. Product delivery and certifications are required to meet all technical specifications.

Specifications Qty. 16 ITC-1172B Gavial Transducers
1. Rewire AWL‐4‐MP to pin1 = 16k, pin 2 = common, pin 3 = 75k/NUWC depth, pin 4 = 37k OR not used
2. Puck with 5/8" tapped center hole (req'd for rugged pigtail ‐ orig has 3/4" for GRE bulkhead conn.)
3. Puck with added GND #6‐32 tapped hole (for common ground or 37k ground mod)
4. Pinger with added common‐ground Y single conductor w/ insulated ring lug
5. Puck‐to‐pinger hardware ‐ #6‐32 x 0.5" 18‐8 screw with nylon patch (Qty 4) without washer
6. Add hydro testing per TempAlt req’ts and provide documentation Each pinger assembly shall pass a 10-cycle hydrostatic test to 1172A max design pressure with no visible signs of damage or leakage. The hydrostatic test shall consist of 9 cycles held for 10 minutes, and the 10th for one hour. Pressure gages are calibrated within one (1) year and OQE provided for the pressure gage calibrations and Test Sheets are signed
7. O‐Ring tolerances – Modifying the tolerances per the diagram; helps insure against the puck diameter from being too small
8. Jacking screws ‐ implement in puck GFM: NSWC CD will provide the rugged pigtail cables – See attached drawing “7426-105D Rugged Pinger Pigtail_60in_28i
9. Calibration set to include:
Impedance magnitude (Ohms) Impedance Phase (deg) Conductance (umhos) Susceptance (umhos) TVR (dB/uPa/V@1m) Receive Sensitivity (dB/V/uPA) Directivity Patterns in the XY and XZ planes at the intended center frequency
This data shall be provided for each element based on the intended operating frequency. Data shall be provided around the intended center frequency in addition, for directivity measurements which shall include a 360 degree polar plot.
Operating Frequencies: Transmit via 16k element: 12 kHz, 12.9 kHz, 13.5 kHz, 14 kHz, 16 kHz 17.2 kHz. Transmit via the 37k element: 37 kHz. Transmit via the 75k element: 65 kHz, 75 kHz and 96 kHz. Receive on 16k element: 12 kHz to 21 kHz. Receive on 75k element: 65 kHz
Directivity plots to include:
16k element: 12 kHz, 12.9 kHz, 13.5 kHz, 14 kHz, 16 kHz 17.2 kHz 37k element: 37 kHz 75k element: 65 kHz, 75 kHz, 96 kHz
TVR and FFVS (Receive Sensitivity) plots to include:
16k element: 10 kHz – 65 kHz 37k element: 10 kHz – 65 kHz 75k element: 10 kHz – 100 kHz
