Scope of Work

Portable Nuclear Gauge Disposal

Portable nuclear gauge disposal services to be performed is, disposal of 4 Troxler portable surface moisture and density gauges, and 1 Troxler surface thin layer density gauge.

Troxler portable surface moisture and density gauges include 2 Troxler model 3440, and 2 Troxler model 3411-B. Both models contain two nuclide sources: Cesium-137 with a quantity of 8 millicuries (mCi) at

0.296 Gigabecquerel (GBq), and Americium-241/Beryllium with a quantity of 40 mCi at 1.48 GBq. Troxler surface thin layer density gauge includes 1 model 4640 with one nuclide source: Cesium-137 with a quantity of 8 mCi at 0.296 GBq.

Disposal must meet the requirements of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) 10 CFR part 30 index 41. The disposal agent must be the manufacturer or provide a copy of their specific license with the NRC that list the models being disposed of with source type and quantities.

Disposal agent must provide a record of transfer receipt for each of the devices to satisfy record keeping requirement of the NRC 10 CFR part 30 index 51.

The items to be disposed of will be shipped to disposal agent utilizing a third-party shipping company.
