State of Florida. The AASHTO STEM Outreach Solutions Program provides hands-on, engaging educational resources that align with state educational standards and inspires interest in careers in transportation and engineering. The Bridge Builder

Module is designed to make complex concepts accessible and enjoyable for students, fostering a strong foundation in

STEM disciplines. This module focuses on engineering principles, teaching students about the design, construction, and analysis of bridges. Section 1004.92, Florida Statutes, addresses career education and training and supports initiatives aimed at developing a skilled workforce. The statute emphasizes the importance of education that aligns with workforce demands and promotes STEM competencies as essential for the state’s economic development.

Intended source (vendor, contractor): AASHTO

Estimated Dollar Amount: $100,000.00

Justification for single source acquisition (what is necessary and unique about the product, service or source; steps taken to confirm unavailability of competition, as appropriate): Section 334.044(35), Florida Statutes, requires the FDOT to consult with affected stakeholders to provide a workforce development program for the delivery of projects designated in the

Department’s Work Program. The AASHTO STEM Outreach Solutions program is part of this comprehensive program that emphasizes the importance of developing a skilled workforce capable of supporting Florida’s infrastructure needs.

AASHTO is the only known vendor capable of providing the AASHTO STEM Outreach Program Materials.
