About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the delivery of the official Storytelling with Data® workshop to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, Alabama.

MSFC seeks two full-day, in-person workshops for up to 35 financial and project analysts per session (70 total participants) conducted on two consecutive workdays. The training must elevate participants' data communication skills through strategies for creating impactful data stories, graph and slide creation, integrating message and data into compelling narratives, and refining presentation skills for audience engagement. The vendor shall deliver the official Storytelling with Data® program exclusively through authorized SWD instructors using SWD's original copyrighted materials and proprietary methodology developed by Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic and the Storytelling with Data team over more than a decade of research and practice. The proprietary elements that cannot be recreated or delivered by other vendors include SWD's original data-storytelling frameworks, copyrighted training materials, visual examples, exercises, participant handouts, proprietary facilitator content, and federally registered Storytelling with Data® branded trademarks. The vendor must provide customized hands-on exercises using NASA-provided examples and visuals, all participant handouts, materials for hands-on exercises, and follow-up resources for NASA distribution. NASA/MSFC will provide the training room equipped with projector, screen, and audio system sufficient for 35 participants per session. This requirement is specifically for the official Storytelling with Data® program as a sole-source procurement; no other training provider is authorized to deliver this workshop or use SWD's copyrighted materials and proprietary methodology.

Statement of Work (SOW) OƯicial Storytelling with Data® Workshop NASA / Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC)

1. Project Overview This Statement of Work covers the delivery of two full-day, in-person workshops for MSFC financial and project analysts in Huntsville, Alabama. The workshop will elevate participants’ data communication skills by improving their ability to craft eƯective data-driven stories and present them confidently and credibly.

The training must include content and examples aligned to the following objectives:

Guide participants through strategies for creating impactful data stories.

Develop skills in graph and slide creation.

Integrate message and data into compelling narratives.

Refine presentation skills for audience engagement.

MSFC requires the oƯicial Storytelling with Data® (SWD) workshop, delivered exclusively by authorized SWD instructors using SWD’s original copyrighted materials and proprietary methodology.

2. Proprietary Methodology and Sole-Source Requirements The requested workshop is the oƯicial Storytelling with Data® program, which is based on an original methodology developed by Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic and the Storytelling with Data team through more than a decade of research, teaching, writing, and practical application across industries. This body of work also underpins five bestselling books that form the foundation of the SWD methodology.

The oƯicial workshop incorporates proprietary elements that cannot be recreated or legally delivered by any other vendor. These include:

SWD’s original data-storytelling frameworks and structured instructional approach Copyrighted training materials, visual examples, exercises, and participant handouts Proprietary facilitator content and methods for applying SWD principles to client-specific work Branded content associated with the federally registered Storytelling with Data® trademarks (U.S. and UK)

All materials, visuals, exercises, and teaching resources are owned exclusively by Storytelling with Data and are protected as the company’s intellectual property. They are not licensed to any other training provider for independent delivery. Only SWD employees are authorized to deliver the oƯicial workshop and are trained internally to teach and apply the methodology consistently while tailoring content to client-provided examples.

Other vendors may oƯer general training in data visualization or communication; however, no other provider can:

Deliver the oƯicial Storytelling with Data® workshop.

Use SWD’s copyrighted books, materials, or exercises.

Represent SWD’s proprietary methodology as their own.

Provide direct access to the organization that is created and continues to steward the methodology.

For these reasons, the requirement is not for a general data-visualization workshop. It is specifically for the oƯicial Storytelling with Data® program, relying on proprietary and trademarked content available only from Storytelling with Data, LLC.

3. Scope of Services / Vendor Deliverables The vendor shall provide:

Two full-day workshops delivered in-person at MSFC on two consecutive workdays Instruction for up to 35 participants per session (70 total) Customized hands-on exercises using NASA-provided examples and visuals All required training materials, including:

o Participant handouts o Materials for hands-on exercises o Follow-up resources for NASA distribution

The vendor must use oƯicial SWD proprietary and trademarked materials and deliver the workshop exclusively through SWD-authorized instructors.

4. NASA Responsibilities NASA/MSFC will provide a training room equipped with projector, screen, and audio system suƯicient for 35 participants per session.
