About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for Kennedy Space Center's procurement of thermal analysis equipment and associated services. The requirement is for the purchase of one TA Instruments Discovery DSC 2500 Differential Scanning Calorimeter as a direct replacement for an existing nonfunctional unit. The Discovery DSC 2500 is specified as the primary deliverable and features advanced thermal analysis capabilities including a Fusion Cell with patented Tzero technology, maximum operation temperature of 725°C, lower temperature capability extendable to -180°C with liquid nitrogen cooling or -120°C with refrigerated cooling, modulated DSC functionality, and the TRIOS software control and analysis package. The instrument includes a five-year warranty on DSC cells and requires a DSL Router with four-port switch for installation.

The complete procurement package includes four line items totaling five deliverables: the Discovery DSC 2500 instrument (Part #973000.901), an RCS90 Discovery DSC refrigerated cooling system for 120V/60Hz operation (Part #972007.901), an RCS Gas Dryer for moisture removal in purge gases (Part #200266.001), thermal installation and basic operational training services provided by ISO 9000-certified service engineers including calibration with traceable standards (Part #999800.528), and a comprehensive Loyalty Support Plan for the DSC2500 providing annual performance maintenance visits, priority support, complete repair coverage, and training access (Part #999800.789). Performance location is NASA/Kennedy Space Center in Kennedy Space Center, Florida, with delivery required within 30 days After Receipt of Order (ARO).

DISCOVERY DSC 2500

Discovery DSC 2500: From the world’s leader in Thermal Analysis, the new Discovery DSC 2500 represents the most advanced, fully featured, and highest performing DSC available. At the core of the DSC 2500 is the new Fusion Cell with patented Tzero technology which provides unrivaled performance in baseline flatness, sensitivity, resolution, reproducibility, and reliability. The exclusive T4P heat flow technology makes the DSC 2500 the only DSC capable of conducting and storing heat capacity in a single run. This best-in-class performance is realized without the need for pre- and post-test data manipulation. The DSC 2500 features a maximum operation temperature of 725 °C. Lower temperature limit can be extended to -180 °C with liquid Nitrogen cooling, or to -120 °C with the refrigerated cooling system. Included standard are the new innovative “app-style” touch screen with One-Touch-Away functionality, a reliable linear autosampler with programmable tray positions for the most flexible and worry-free 24/7 operation, Modulated DSC® (MDSC®) for the most efficient separation of complex thermal events, and new TRIOS software, the most versatile control and analysis software package available. TRIOS features a unique interface for programming experiments, managing and analyzing data files, intuitive spreadsheet views for autosampler control and sequencing, and automated calibration and verification programming. The Discovery DSCs are the only instruments in the industry to include a five year warranty on DSC cells. Note: TRIOS is compatible with Windows 7 and greater operating systems and is included with the instrument. Installation of the DSC requires a DSL Router with four port switch (P/N: 251471.002). In addition, the Universal AC Adapter Kit is required for orders outside of the US (p/n 203599.901).

THERMAL INSTALL & BASIC OP TRAINING FEE

Thermal and Rubotherm Installation & Training: Installation will be provided according to ISO 9000 procedure by one of our highly trained Service Engineers (average experience level of our field Service Engineers is over 15 years). The ISO 9000 procedure ensures consistency and high quality throughout the installation process. IQ/OQ procedures are available for an additional fee. The installation (except DMA) will include calibration with a traceable standard and a certificate of calibration. Basic Operational Training is also provided on the equipment after it is installed in your laboratory.
