About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) outlines the procurement of component parts hardware for NASA's Open eVTOL Subproject Research Aircraft for eVTOL Enabling techNologies (RAVEN) activity. The procurement is specifically for a BD-6 kit and associated CAD model to support NASA's development of a 1000lb-class Category 3 uncrewed aerial system (UAS) that will serve as a reference eVTOL platform for research in flight dynamics, controls, and acoustics.

The scope is limited to purchasing commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components to be delivered to NASA Langley Research Center. The hardware will be used to formulate system requirements for an upcoming Systems Requirement Review (SRR), improve analysis models and performance estimates, provide NASA technicians hands-on experience, and enable future component ground testing. The deliverables consist of one complete BD-6 kit and one complete BD-6 CAD Model to be delivered electronically. Importantly, none of the hardware being purchased is intended for use in actual flight articles. The SOW specifies that no government-furnished property or information is involved, and there are no specific milestones associated with this procurement.

STATEMENT OF WORK

1.0 Introduction/Background:

The purpose of this SOW is for the procurement of component parts hardware for the Open eVTOL Subproject Research Aircraft for eVTOL Enabling techNologies (RAVEN) activity. The Open eVTOL Subproject is currently in formulation following a successful Mission Concept Review in 2024 with RAVEN being the sole activity under the Open eVTOL Subproject currently. The future vision system, RAVEN, is intended to be a 1000lb-class Category 3 uncrewed aerial system (UAS) that provides researchers with access to a reference eVTOL platform to perform innovative research in the areas of flight dynamics & controls and acoustics.

The hardware to be purchased with this PR will enable the NASA engineers to better formulate system requirements in support of the upcoming Systems Requirement Review (SRR), improve analysis models and performance estimates with explicit measurements of component hardware weights, provide NASA technicians hands-on experience working with and integrating the hardware to inform future design requirements, and for future component ground testing. None of the hardware being purchased as part of this PR is intended to be used in or on a flight article.

2.0 Scope of Work:

Consists solely of purchasing components that are available commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS). With the execution of the PR and the purchase of the components, the vendor will crate and ship the hardware to NASA Langley Research Center.

3.0 Objectives:

The procurement of this hardware will enable:

• Formulation of system requirements for the upcoming SRR,

• Improve analysis models and performance estimates in support of SRR and PDR,

• Enable NASA technicians to gain hands-on experience with the hardware to inform future design requirements,

• Enable future component testing.

4.0 Description of the Work/Contractor Tasks:

N/A. This procurement is for the purchases of supplies.

5.0 Deliverables:

This procurement is for the purchase of supplies from a vendor. With the successful completion of this purchase the following shall be delivered from the vendor:

1. (1) complete BD-6 kit delivered to NASA LaRC shipping and receiving,

2. (1) complete BD-6 CAD Model delivered electronically via Box or other acceptable means for the digital data
