NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION

NASA SHARED SERVICES CENTER

RECOMMENDATION AND DETERMINATION TO SOLICIT FROM ONE SOURCE

OR BRAND NAME

PICK ONE

Sole Source:

☐I recommend that NASA, NASA Shared Services Center negotiate with Vendor Name only for Enter Supply or Service to be procured. The total estimated cost of this effort is Enter Dollar amount and the estimated period of performance or lead-time for delivery is Date.

OR

Brand Name Justification:

☒I recommend that NASA, NASA Shared Services Center negotiate with only with vendors who can provide the subject brand name from New Tech Solutions, Inc. for 1 U Compute Nodes . The total estimated cost of this effort is REDACTED and the estimated period of performance or lead-time for delivery is 90 days ARO.

This recommendation is for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available from only one source/only one manufacture. Competition is impractical for the following reasons (please answer the questions below):

1. What are the reasons for soliciting only the suggested source/suggested brand name? Please provide the unique characteristics of the items or services along with the supporting rationale and the market research performed to substantiate your reason for the suggested source/brand name.

Additional Computer Nodes for the HZE cluster are needed to increase the number of simultaneous Radiation Analysis that can be performed across the cluster. Increasing the Cluster Compute Nodes increases the cluster’s CPU core count and will allow researchers to run more detailed analysis routines at the same time. To simplify setup and maintain a homogenous compute node hardware across the cluster, New Tech’s 1U - NTSELITEPRO-DX-AM-7282 Compute Node is required. The following products are required to rack, assemble, network, monitor, and maintain the New 48 Cluster compute nodes are to be installed in two racks of LaRC’s new Data Center (CRF).

2. What is the impact to the government if another vendor/brand is used? Include any dollar, schedule, or compatibility impacts if possible.

The New Tech nodes are compatible with what is currently in use in the LaRC Data Center (CRF). In order to maintain a homogenous compute note across the cluster located in the center, the New Tech nodes are required. Other brands would be incompatible with the current environment and cause delays in the current mission objectives.
