Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs

PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

1. Statement of Need and Purpose: This acquisition is necessary to provide an automated tube labeler to the iPSC Neurodegenerative Diseases Initiative (INDI) Project within the new Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.

2. Background Information and Objective: imaging capture We are working to create a national resource of isogenic sets of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias mutated iPSC lines, complimented by foundational phenotypic data sets from differentiated disease-relevant cells derived from these lines. The automated tube labeler is a vial labeling system, capable of printing and applying labels to vials ranging from 0.5 mL to 50 mL in size. It can be configured to sort racked tubes, receive bulk tubes, uncap/recap, fill and/or scan barcodes. This is essential in the INDI- CARD initiative which will be handling a multitude of tubes and would take an inordinate amount of time to label by hand. This time can be used more efficiently in doing the actual research. Also due to large, automated cell culture system, this labeler integrates with it very well and would further the integrity and tracking of all the production samples.

3. Generic Name of Product: Automated tube labeler

4. Purchase Description:

The automated tube labeler is essential part of the automation system that is designed for the INDI-Card initiative. The research being done on the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases will generate large quantities of samples and tubes that will need to be tracked and recorded into the existing automated cell culture system as well and the laboratory inventory system.

5. Salient characteristics All deliverables required under this contract shall be packaged, marked and shipped in accordance with Government specifications. At a minimum, all deliverables shall be marked with the contract number and Contractor name. The Contractor shall guarantee that all required materials shall be delivered in immediate usable and acceptable condition.

Vendor must be able to provide these specifications:

The automated tube handling system is customizable to the INDI-CARD’s needs in which it will be integrated in existing automation systems.

It can handle a wide variety of tubes and vials ranging from 0.5 mL to 50 mL in size. In addition to labeling, the labeler has optional features that can be added or upgraded to best fit specific requirements.
