OVERHAUL DESCRIPTION

FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY

ITEM NAME FUEL PUMP,SUPPORT

PART NUMBER 23202410

USED ON ALCO 251B MAIN DIESEL ENGINES

Items as received by the contractor must be complete and of the proper cited part number. Discrepancies shall be reported to the Coast Guard Contracting Officer.

OVERHAUL REQUIREMENTS:

Identification Upon Receipt:

All Fuel Pump Support assemblies when received by the contractor shall be examined and verified to be complete with crosshead and lifters and of the proper cited part number, 23202410.

NOTE: PART NUMBER 23202410-UE IDENTIFIES A FUEL PUMP SUPPORT THAT IS UNIT

EXCHANGED FOR A REMANUFACTURED FUEL PUMP SUPPORT WHEN A CORE IS RETURNED FOR

EXCHANGE. THE CURRENT PRICE FOR A UE FUEL PUMP SUPPORT WITH A CORE EXCHANGE

IS ESTIMATED AT $8,250 EACH.

PRELIMINARY INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS:

Each Fuel Pump Support shall be inspected in order to determine the extent of required repairs. A Condition Report and Cost Proposal shall be provided to the Coast Guard Contracting Officer, which shall include: new parts required with prices, required repairs, labor rate, labor hours required, and a total estimate for all required services.

MATERIAL CERTIFICATIONS:

Material certifications shall be submitted for any components designed to be exposed to corrosive fluids. A copy of the material certifications shall be packaged inside a protective envelope and included with each Fuel Pump Support.

OVERHAUL REQUIREMENTS:

Each Fuel Pump Support shall be overhauled to a condition which shall restore the operating and performance characteristics to the "ORIGINAL" design and technical specifications. Overhaul shall be performed in accordance with FAIRBANKS MORSE ENGINE DIVISION MI-11049K Fuel Injection Pump Support and Drive specifications and standards using OEM or equivalent parts. After completion of all repairs, the Contractor shall perform standard production tests and inspections to assure maximum design performance. A final inspection/assembly report shall be submitted to the Contracting Officer for approval prior to any scheduled QA inspections. This report shall have all OEM minimum and maximum design dimensions and clearances of all attributes along with the actual dimensions documented. All out of tolerance dimensions shall be circled or highlighted. A waiver request shall be submitted with all out of tolerance conditions stating why the out of tolerance condition is acceptable along with a statement that the function and performance of the Fuel Pump Support assembly will not be diminished or compromised.

QUALITY ASSURANCE:

The inspections and tests required herein are the minimum necessary and are not intended to replace any controls, examinations or tests normally employed by the contractor to assure the quality of the product. The following are required and will be monitored by a Government Quality Assurance Representative.

a. Witness all standard production testing.

b. Witness preservation, packaging, packing, and marking.

PRESERVATION:

Each Fuel Pump Support shall be preserved in accordance with OEM specifications.

Each Fuel Pump Support shall be individually preserved and wrapped for protection against deterioration for a period of two (2) years minimum.

PACKAGING:

Each overhauled Fuel Pump Support shall be individually packaged in a moisture resistant protective envelope. All open ports shall be sealed using waterproof caps or covers to prevent the intrusion of moisture and other contaminants. The container shall be capable of protecting the fuel pump support from damage during multiple shipments by commercial carrier.

PACKING:

At a minimum, the shipping container shall consist of a box constructed of 3/4 inch plywood, totally enclosed, with internal or external bracing with a skid mounted base to facilitate handling by a fork lift. Each Fuel Pump Support shall be packed individually in its own wooden container which shall be capable of providing adequate protection to the Fuel Pump Support during multiple shipments. If the Fuel Pump Support cannot be securely bolted to the shipping container, the Fuel Pump Support shall have a minimum of 1 1/2 inch cushioning material completely surrounding it prior to placing it in the wooden shipping container. Wooden blocking shall also be incorporated to prevent movement during multiple shipments.

Marking:

Each Fuel Pump Support shall have a name plate attached to the housing displaying the vendors name, serial number, model number/part number, CG Contract number, and Delivery Order number stenciled / stamped on the name plate. All previous markings shall be completely removed from the reusable shipping container prior to the application of any new markings. If the reusable shipping container is inadequate for reshipment the newly constructed shipping container shall be constructed of wood. Mark each container in legible black print lettering with the following information.

Bar Coding:

All material shipped to the U.S. Coast Guard SFLC under this contract shall be labeled using bar code labels as specified in ELC specification D-000- 0100, dated 10/91, REV G 02/06, Bar Coding for USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center Procured Material.

The actual labels shall be Type ?V?, Grade ?B?, Style I or 2, composition ?a?

with plastic laminate.

Each label shall contain encoded data for the Stock Number.

WARRANTY:

OVERHAUL DESCRIPTION

A. Standard Manufacturer's WarrantyX

B. Item being repaired as an "onboard repair" or a "system stock" item and will be put into inventory. NOT FOR IMMEDIATE INSTALLATION.

Contractor must guarantee item against defects that lead to failure for

90 days after installation for a period of up to two (2) years after delivery to Coast Guard.

GOVERNMENT ACCEPTANCE:

Acceptance will be made at destination by a Government representative.

Acceptance will be contingent upon the representative's verification of no damage in transit, correctness and completeness of order and contractor's conformance to preservation/packaging, packing and marking requirements.

PACKAGING AND MARKING FOR SHIPMENT:

X A. Each unit shall be packed individually in it's own wooden box which shall be capable of providing adequate protection to the item during multiple shipments. Mark each box in legible black print lettering with the following information:
