Solicitation # 70Z080-22-QMECP0006 Amendment # 1
Questions/Answers:
1. Work Item 006 - Decks, Helicopter Operating Areas, Preserve. Spec 3.3 Containment and Ambient
Conditions Control calls for complete containment for dust, paint chips and spent abrasives and ambient control measures. Work Items 009 and 010, also installing preservation and installing non-skid as in
Work Item 006, Spec 3.3.4 in both Work Items calls out for containment but also provides alternatives for containment and ambient control in Spec 3.3.4.1 and 3.3.4.2.
1Q. Does the USCG expects full containment and ambient control for all three work items or, as in Work
Items 009 and 010, can alternatives as stated in 3.3.4.1 and 3.3.4.2 be utilized on all three work items?
1. Yes, WI 6 must be performed with a full containment around the flight deck, there are no options for an alternative means for surface prep or coating application. As a side note, in case it was missed, the flight deck must be blasted. There is no allowance for applying non-skid over a water jetted surface.
1Q. Yes, WI’s 9 and 10 still require the use of containments if ambient conditions are not within the ranges set by 6310, the WI, or the coatings manufacturer’s requirements. If the ambient conditions are favorable they have the option to use the methods mentioned within the WI’s.
