1.0 INTRODUCTION

The vendor shall fabricate hoses as listed in the attached drawing and pressure test IAW the following standard specifications.

Surface Forces Logistics Center Standard Specification 0000 (SFLC Std Spec 0000), 2014, General Requirements

Surface Forces Logistics Center Standard Specification 5000 (SFLC Std Spec 5000), 2014, Auxiliary Machine Systems

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

1. Hydrostatic Test. The Contractor shall hydrostatically test all hose assemblies prior to installation as follows:

Draw a circumferential chalk line around the hose next to each fitting attachment. Measure the distance from the lines to fitting edges at four places 90° apart.

Using fresh water or other appropriate liquid (hose assembled for water systems shall be tested with only fresh water), apply a hydrostatic proof pressure equivalent to twice the rated hose working pressure reference Coast Guard Drawing 45 RB-M 505-001. Hold this pressure for ten (10) minutes. Hose shall not burst, leak or show signs of fitting separation.

Upon completion of test, measure the distance from chalk lines to fittings. Any change in measurement from those is reason for rejection of the tested hose assembly.

Flush. After hydrostatic testing, the Contractor shall flush the hose assembly with water between 130°F and 180°F for a period between 5 and 10 minutes. Flush shall be straight through and not recirculated.

For hydraulic system hoses the Contractor shall flush each new hose assembly to remove all contaminates to achieve cleanliness Grade “A”.

Treatment after testing. Upon completion of pressure tests and flushing, the Contractor shall dry the hose assembly and cap or plug the end fittings to prevent damage and to keep out dirt. Install the tested hose assembly as soon as practical after completion of tests.

2. Labeling. The Contractor shall attach hose tags to all renewed hose assemblies in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 5000, paragraph C2.2.1.4 which includes the CMS code listed on the drawing.
