Customs and Border Protection US Border Patrol, San Diego Sector
Sector Intelligence Unit
Statement of Work Microwave Backhaul System Equipment
1. BACKGROUND
CBP's Office of Acquisition New and Emerging Technology (NET) program is supporting a multi-sector/multi-component deployment of microwave backhaul technology across the southwest border. In an effort to expand technological capabilities, NET is providing funding to support the multiple microwave deployments. These deployments will serve as a data backhaul for a variety of internet protocol devices and other data intensive equipment that is currently deployed or will be in the future. Without a microwave backhaul, new technology deployed along the .southwest border will not have a way to communicate or disseminate information effectively. Microwave technology will allow CBP assets to be deployed in areas that were previously unpractical due to lack of cellular network coverage.
In an effort to expand the success of the program and share best practices with other Border Patrol Sectors, San Diego, El Centro, Yuma, and Tucson Sectors are working collaboratively to strategically build a covert microwave network.
2. SCOPE
Procure new Brand Name Only (BNO) and Brand Name or Equivalent Microwave Backhaul System technology per the make/model specifications outlined at Section 5.2 of this SOW. Refurbished or gray market items are not authorized for the fulfilment of the government’s requirement. CBP personnel will utilize the equipment provided by the awardee as a critical component of daily field operations.
