27 August 2020 55 SFS Gear Storage Locker Q & A

1. Is there any layouts or technical specifications? No. The proposed area is rectangular in shape. 70’L x 21’W x 8’H

2. In case fabrication is needed during the installation, how are the storage lockers laid out?

*See projected layout below

3. Would you be able to provide more information on the open mesh?

Open mesh needed to maintain ventilation of duty gear that might be wet, etc. from personnel being in the elements during their duty day.

4. Will the lockers be physically attached to the floor or wall? If so, what type construction is the surface to which they will be attached?

Cannot say if it’s possible to physically attach to floor or walls. With that, preferably not physically attached if feasible. If they must the floor is old wood type material.

Outside walls appear to be cement-like/type material. However, if they must be attached, Security Forces isn’t the approving authority for that.

5. Is there a dock for unloading? If so, what is the distance from point of unloading to location of installation? Yes, approximately 85 feet if approved for use. 55 CES would be the agency that would facilitate usage.

6. With the locker set up, would you prefer for the lockers to come in sets of 4-5 next to one another (more cost-effective), or single lockers by themselves?

4-5 together would be ok, unless that requires them to be secured to the floor/walls.

7. Would you like to have a hanger bar or an upper shelf inside of each locker or would the locker just have an open space?

A hangar bar or hook are recommended. An upper shelf would limit how much usable space to stow bulky gear such as ballistic vest, etc.

8. What is the gauge of metal would you in mind for these lockers (12-gauge, 14-gauge, or 18-gauge)? The thicker the better. These lockers will be used daily, with heavy gear placed in & out of them constantly. The more they can withstand that daily use the better.

9. Will all of the lockers be installed in the same area within Building 301D? Yes that is the plan.

10. Will all lockers be placed against an existing wall or will certain units be placed back-to-back

(one locker backed up against another)? Some against a wall, but most back-to-back.

11. How far is the installation site from the loading dock (if one is on site)? We would like to know in approximate feet and walking time, including if any elevator ride is necessary.

Building 301D is massive and specifics are needed here. See answer #5. Don’t believe there are any elevators that would need to be taken, or if there are any elevators within Bldg D.

12. Is there any pictures available of the space where these lockers will be placed? See Below

13. Are there any floor plans available of how the end user wants the lockers placed within the room/s? See proposed layout below

14. Are the lockers expected to be anchored to the ground or just set in place? See Question #4

15. Do you have floor plans? This will help to determine the sloped top components that required, end panels and trim. See proposed layout below

16. Is there a drawing on how these will be installed? Or do you a the measurements of the room or rooms there are going to be installed. Usable room space is approximately 70’ Long by 21’ Wide. It has a very high ceiling, so no height issues.

17. The lockers can have sloping tops added to the 72-inch high locker, but if you have them along a wall and it turns at a right angle, you can also get a corner filler piece so nothing falls behind the open space between two lockers installed at right angle. Projected layout will not have any along the wall that would create a right angle.

18. Is the location in Building 301D a ground floor location? If not, is there an elevator?

Technically, the location is not ground floor, but access to the area is on the same level of the bowling alley parking lot.

19. Does Building 301D have a truck dock?

It has many and one relatively close to the proposed locker area.

20. Are there time limitations on when installation can occur?

None that I am aware of, but CES would be the final determination of this, since they operate most of the Bldg D facilities.

21. What kind of floor will be they be installed? Concrete, carpet, tile or something else.

Wood floor and concrete wall on one side only. Open walls on three (3) other sides.
