About this file
This document is an Important Bid Addendum (Addendum No. 01) issued by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction for Bid Number 52-IFB-1543301447-SDD, specifically for Dock Equipment. The addendum provides detailed responses to vendor questions regarding existing dock equipment at a facility. The bid opening is scheduled for May 21, 2025, at 3:00 PM ET, with the procurement covering dock levelers and related modifications. The existing dock equipment was installed in 1996 and consists of pit-type levelers with individual pits measuring 84 inches wide and 44 inches long. The current dock plate size is 83 inches wide and 62 inches long, and a metal build-out will be required to accommodate new standard dock plates.
The addendum includes photographic documentation of the existing dock equipment and clarifies that the seal and shelters will be standard, not custom. A key detail is that the current dock pit is shorter than the new dock plate, necessitating a metal build-out to extend the pit. The state has confirmed through manufacturer consultation that a standard dock plate will fit once the modifications are complete. The document provides technical specifics about the existing infrastructure, helping potential bidders understand the exact requirements and current site conditions for the replacement and modification project.

QUESTIONS ANSWERS
Serco and some other manufacturers that supply vertical dock levelers offer 2 types, one is what is they call a shelf type (Leveler is mounted closer to the dock) and one is a pit type. Can you tell me which one the existing levelers are?
Pit Type
If they are pit type, is the pit considered a continuous type (pit is one pit that runs all the way under all levelers, or individual type pit (each pit is only for each leveler).
Individual Type
If they are pit type with individual pits. Are the actual pit dimensions available?
The Dock Plate Size is 83 Inches wide and 62 Inches long.
The Dock Pit Size is 84 Inches wide and 44 Inches Long
What is the age of the equipment? The Docks were Installed in 1996, when the building was built
What is the size of the equipment? The current equipment is now longer made with this type of measurement. The equipment was available in 1996.
Questions were asked in the Urgent and Cautioned Site Visit about the Shelf Length and the Dock Pit Length
Currently, the Dock Pit Size is shorter than the new dock plate. A build out will have to be done to the Pit. This will be done with metal.
Will the Seal and Shelfters be custom? They will be standard
Is the size of the equipment custom? A check with the manufacturer has been done, and a standard dock plate will fit once the build out is done.
Are pictures available? Yes. See Following pages
