27. Visual Performance Suite Software
Plexus Scientific’s Visual Performance Suite™ (VPS) is a highly configurable web-based platform designed to collect, consolidate, report, and analyze the data that is relevant to an organization, whether it be for program management, project management, grants management, risk management, or budget management. VPS has scorecarding, dashboarding, strategy mapping, and other visualizations to present data for online reviews. The data can be tailored to each user based on their role in the organization. The user interfaces can be configured to display the information that is needed for the user to accomplish the task(s) at hand. VPS has robust security that can be used to restrict access to data, including down to each individual field, and to grant read/write/delete permissions to users based on a set of rules. The rule-based security enables the permissions to be dynamically assigned when certain conditions are met.
Examples of how the software platform is being used are described below, followed by representative screen shots.
Note: VPS is also known in the federal government as Program Performance Manager™ (PPM)
Performance Management
VPS integrates with Microsoft Office products including Office 365 to provide native Office documents in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents as well as Adobe PDF generation. The VPS software is used to collect annual performance targets and results, and then generate highly formatted GPRA reports that are submitted to Congress in support of the Congressional Budget Justification. Users can create ad hoc reports using the built-in search utility and export the data to Microsoft Word or Excel. Visualizations from the business intelligence module can be created using a drag and drop interface and then exported to Adobe PDF and Microsoft Excel for further use. Data from the search utility and from the business intelligence module can be exported into presentations, briefing books, and PDF documents.
Strategic Planning
In addition to GPRA reporting, customers use the VPS platform to serve as an enterprise-wide strategic planning and tracking system. The system provides a flexible, yet consistent, way for an organization to develop strategic plans. Once the plan has been established, each strategic task/activity/milestone is tracked through regular updates on accomplishments, planned activities, and overall status.
Grants Management Within the grants management module, VPS can used to create all of the funding opportunities that then get posted on a publicly available site that allows the public to search for new opportunities and also those that have been awarded to grantees. The grantees then submit semi-annual progress reports that are entered into VPS and subsequently posted on the public website for the public to review. The data can be entered directly into VPS or imported from an Excel spreadsheet.
Data Analysis and Dashboarding
VPS supports advanced data analysis and dashboarding through seamless integration with the MicroStrategy business intelligence platform.
Budget Management
VPS has been tailored for government customers to collect, synthesize, and report on budgets, including the tracking of changes over time.
Risk Management
The risk management module within VPS serves as an enterprise risk management platform. Each organization can define their risk management capabilities, define risks facing their organization, develop mitigation/response strategies, and track the status of each risk over its life.
