Course Descriptions:
● EOD 3D Printing MTT: Design, Maintain, and Operate: This course includes all tools, parts and equipment required to run 3D printing operations for an EOD shop. All files and licenses are also included. IE will provide a 3D Printer with modification kits and a supply of filament. Students are expected to supply their own laptop that can run the slicer software.
● USAF EOD Electronics- Onsite MTT: This course is designed with the USAF EOD Technician in mind. We know that you can do math and read schematics, so we take you on a fast-paced journey through the recent history of IEDs while building complex training devices you can keep to sustain your training. There’s usually at least one super nerd in the class, so we bring all the latest kits to keep them busy while we show the rest of the class the secrets they have kept from you. The course is five days/ 40 hours and for up to 15 students. Schedule of Events:
Day 1: DC Theory: Resistors, Batteries, Capacitors and Switches: The lecture is focused on the various passive components found in IEDs and the foundational concepts that explain their behavior in IED circuits. These concepts will also be related to EOD procedures by examining how DET Diagnostics and Ohm’s Law line up. Lab: Multimeter tutorial; breadboard simple circuits and test with a supplied multimeter; observe capacitor charging and voltages across open, closed and EOL switches; solder breadboard leads to switches.Day 2: Relays, Diodes, Transistors, MOSFETs, and SCRs: The lecture is focused on the common firing switches used in IEDs in the past 20 years.
Students are introduced to electromechanical and semiconductor firing switches through their Schematic Symbols, Data Sheets and Example IED Circuits. Lab: Breadboard five historical IEDs using supplied components; build Dual SCR IED Circuit Board; build RC Timer Board. Day 3: IC Chips, Logic Chips and RCIED Circuits: This lecture will cover IC chips used in IEDs historically and their evolution into the Victim Operated and RCIED devices from recent conflicts. Lab: Build RFT-2 on the supplied PCB, build DTMF PIC IED Circuit Board, and interface with COTS radio (similar to DTMF-11). Day 4: Programming Concepts and Arduino Applied to IEDs: This lecture focuses on dividing and classifying the microcontrollers used in IEDs and developing code and hardware for an IED. Practical examples of historical microcontroller IED circuits will be presented and adapted for the Arduino Lab. Lab: Install Arduino IDE and libraries; build Arduino Light Meter (from source code); build Arduino PIR Counter; build Arduino RFM95 Communication. Day 5: Capstone IED Team Build: Lab: Students will split into teams. Each team will build two training devices for future field training. Source code will be provided where needed. The devices will be based on the training requirements developed by the teams during the course. The instructor will bring more than enough materials for the teams to build custom devices to their specifications. Teams will develop requirements and drawings for their devices and present them to the instructor for approval before they build their circuits.
Deliverables: Lab kits for up to 15 students (Breadboard, Multimeter, Soldering Iron, Parts Kit, COTs timer and DTMF Radio, Arduino boards and corresponding device builds); Student Training guide with schematics & diagrams; CAD files and source code (from the labs); Certificate of Completion
● EOD Electronics: This course prepares the bomb technician with the technical skills required to run IED training drills at their home unit using IED electronics parts, specialized monitors, and blast simulator systems. 5 days/ 40 hours onsite (price includes student guides, lab kits and materials for up to 25 students.) Schedule of Events: Day 1:

● EOD Maker Faire: Join us in San Diego for an annual three day event where you can learn and use the various hardware and software tools that will make you a maker. Our team of experts will guide you through these tools in seminars and work one-on-one with you to help you get the skills you need to make what you want to make. You will have the opportunity to use traditional FDM printers, our nylon SLS printers and CNC machines to make EOD tools and training devices. We will also show you how to solder and mill your own circuit boards using Eagle CAD and our Bantam Tools machines.
● EOD Electronics / IED Defeat Hybrid Training: Our Electronics/IED Defeat Hybrid class is a 5-day, hands-on training experience designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the various components and techniques used in IEDs. The class is broken down into two main sections: classroom training and scenario-based drills. The first two days of the class are devoted to basic electronics review, including lectures and hands-on lab work to reinforce key concepts. Topics covered include DC theory, resistors, capacitors, switches, and relays, as well as diodes, transistors, MOSFETs, and SCRs. The lab portion of the class includes a multimeter tutorial, breadboarding of simple circuits, and demonstrations of voltage and current-controlled triggering circuits for IEDs.
The remaining three days of the class are focused on scenario-based drills, which are designed to provide students with practical experience in dealing with real-world situations. The class can accommodate up to 15 students and the drills consist of hostage scenarios, and generic scenarios. The drills include both morning and afternoon sessions, providing students with the opportunity to apply the concepts and techniques they have learned in the classroom. This class is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the various components and techniques used in IEDs and the skills necessary to safely and effectively deal with these devices in real-world situations.

The simulator can operate in multiple positions and can be buried or partially submerged. The simulator can be triggered locally, with the included long range remote. All of our IED Training Aids integrate with the simulators to create an immersive training environment with safe and realistic penalties. The MK-17X acts as a repeater for RF commands sent to all IE simulator devices on your range. This creates a self forming wireless mesh network to ensure your remotes will actuate your device from the position that best suits your scenario. Our RF reliability is as close to hardwire reliability as it gets and can be extended for miles in all directions. This blast simulator is powered by the Deluxe Simulator Board with RF and fully supported by our 2 year warranty.
● Non-Tactical Electronics Kit: This kit contains curated parts required to practice breadboarding conceptual and historical IED circuits. The parts are compatible with circuits from our electronics curriculum, the Ultimate EOD
Electronics Reference Guide and EOD Maker.

The guide has over 100 circuit case studies and reference materials for all the electronics topics that are relevant to Bomb
Technicians. The book comes with a breadboard and parts kit to complete the basic labs.
● Ultimate EOD Electronics Reference Guide (Book and Deluxe Kit): The Ultimate EOD Electronics Reference Guide puts everything you need to know about IED Electronics and Wire Diagnostics in the palm of your hand. The guide has over 100 circuit case studies and reference materials for all the electronics topics that are relevant to Bomb
Technicians. The book comes with a breadboard and parts kit to complete the basic labs, along with a wireless soldering iron, solder kits, and a fluke meter.
● IED Monitoring System: Improvised Electronics' IED Monitoring system allows you to monitor IEDs at a distance.
The system will alarm and tell the user if a trigger is violated and if the detonator would have gone off.. The input circuit will not allow the cap to be activated until the requirements for commit time are met. This allows the users to run small amounts of current through magic caps to create "trap detonators" often found in terrorist devices.
The system is also suitable for energetic RSP and is fast enough to report a detonation even when interrogated with an explosive tool in EOD operations. The System comes with five devices and triggers.
● IED Lane Kit: This comprehensive kit allows the user to set up a functional IED lane. All of the functional devices in this kit are monitored with the magic cap system. This removes the need for sirens that clutter up the X-Ray and do not have a realistic commit time.
