DATA COLLECTION
Telephone Interviewer II: This person administers telephone instruments to support research and evaluation projects. S/he may administer the instruments using paper-and-pencil or electronic instruments. In addition, s/he may be required to conduct pretesting, screening, prompting, securing cooperation and confirming consent, refusal aversion and refusal conversion, retrieval, locating, and validation activities.
This position requires conscientious, accurate data collection. The ability to read research instruments exactly as written and record data (including verbatim answers) in a format consistent with the research goals. Excellent record keeping and phone skills are required as well as native language proficiency in the language of data collection. Requires bachelor’s degree. At least 2 years of prior experience as a telephone interviewer.
Field Interviewer II: This person collects data by various methods including administering CAPI interviews, paper and pencil interviews, observational reports, neighborhood assessment surveys, locating and other in-person field efforts. In addition, s/he may be required to conduct pretesting, screening, prompting, securing cooperation and confirming consent, refusal aversion and refusal conversion, retrieval, locating, and validation activities.
This position requires conscientious, accurate data collection and security. The ability to read research instruments exactly as written and record data (including verbatim answers) in a format consistent with the research goals. Excellent record keeping and in-person skills are required as well as native language proficiency in the target language. Bachelor’s degree required. At least 2 years of prior experience as a field interviewer.
Qualitative/Cognitive Interviewer II: This person conducts qualitative research by conducting cognitive, in-depth, and qualitative interviews with respondents. S/he also summarizes interview data using a structured format either in Office, Q-Notes or other software application.
This position requires analytical skills, accuracy, a thorough understanding of research methods, and an ability to comprehend project goals. At least 3 years of qualitative interviewing experience, on-going training in qualitative interviewing and a bachelors’ degree is required, masters or PhD is preferred. Native level fluency in the target respondent’s language is also required.
OFFICE
Administrative Assistant I: This person provides secretarial, clerical and administrative support to RSS project staff. S/he must demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy, the ability to multi-task and interact professionally with staff and clients.
This position requires a working knowledge of Office software applications and at least a bachelor’s degree, and at least one year in a similar position.
Administrative Assistant II: This person provides secretarial, clerical and administrative support to RSS project staff. S/he must demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy, the ability to

This position requires a working knowledge of Office software applications, a bachelor’s degree, and at least two years in a similar position.
Recruiter - This person provides leadership as well as support to research services including the recruitment, screening and selection of both qualitative and quantitative respondents. Recruitment includes outreach through multiple avenues including but not limited to phone, in- person, web, and newspapers. Screening includes in person and phone screening using both structured and unstructured screening materials.
The position requires excellent interpersonal and telephone skills including the ability to answer complex questions, understand and describe the research goals and procedures and judge the quality and suitability of potential respondents. Must be able to identify and contact community organizations and gain their cooperation. It also requires detailed and accurate record-keeping, the ability to multi-task, including multi-tasking while on the phone, and a strong understanding of sensitive data handling and storage.
Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of recruitment experience is required as well as native proficiency in the target respondent’s language for recruitment tasks that require direct communication with potential respondents.
Research Assistant - This person provides research and administrative support of limited technical complexity including conducting literature reviews, preparing tables, graphs, and assisting with quantitative analyses using spreadsheet or statistical software such as SPSS. S/he may also be responsible for organizing and filing project materials and drafting portions of project reports.
This position requires analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail and writing skills. A bachelor’s degree and one year similar experience is required.
Transcriptionist – This person provides verbatim transcription services including verbatim transcription of English language focus groups and qualitative interviews.
This position requires excellent attention to detail and typing skills. It also requires the ability to master vocabulary unique to the study population. Bachelor’s degree and 2 years experience is required.
Translator I: This person provides translation services for translating data collection instruments and other project materials from English into another language.
This position requires two (2) years’ experience in translation services and near native proficiency in the source language and native language proficiency in the target language. Bachelor’s degree is required.

Translator II: This person provides translation services for translating data collection instruments and other project materials from English into another language.
This position requires five (5) years’ experience in translation services, at least three (3) years experience in committee translations, and near native proficiency in the source language and native language proficiency in the target language. Bachelor’s degree is required.
RESEARCH
Jr Analyst: This person provides in-depth, substantive review and associated analysis relevant to client needs and project goals. S/he evaluates data and conducts research and administrative tasks applying standard and established techniques; examples include summarizing qualitative information, collecting data, (qualitative and/or quantitative), preparing tables, graphs, and executing analyses using Office, spreadsheet or statistical software, and organizing and filing project materials. S/he may also write draft chapters of project reports or summaries.
This position requires an understanding of research methods and goals. It also requires efficiency and accuracy in completing assigned tasks and the ability to follow established procedures and protocols.
A working knowledge of analysis software is also required. A bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s is preferred. Two years minimum experience in research environment.
Sr. Research Methodologist: This person performs research tasks of significant technical complexity, applying standard and established theories, concepts, and techniques. S/he also provides technical advice and methodological consultation regarding survey design, instrument design, and data analysis.
S/he may develop or direct the development of innovative and creative technical solutions to research problems, questions, and issues, using or extending state-of-the-art methods and technology; direct development of timely project reports that demonstrate organization, clarity, and proper format.
Master’s degree required, Ph.D. preferred along with ten (10) years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility in survey research, or a related field and at least one year of experience in project management.
MANAGEMENT
Assistant Project Manager: This person supports the project manager and/or the project director on specific tasks including designing/developing data collection materials; collecting data; analyzing, interpreting, and summarizing data. His/her tasks may include monitoring project timelines, preparing draft deliverable and reports.
The Assistant Project Manager must have at least a Bachelor’s degree. Two years of experience as research assistant required.
Project Manager I: This person is responsible for the day-to-day technical management for specific project tasks or small projects. His/her tasks may include meeting project timelines, draft deliverable
Research Support Services, Inc. Page 8 and report preparation. S/he may supervise the work of junior staff or field interviewers. S/he may have day-to-day contact with client staff.
The Project Manager I must have at least a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one (1) year experience with tasks similar to those described in the subject area.
Project Manager II: This person is responsible for the day-to-day technical management and leadership for medium-size projects or for a specific task on a large, complex project. His/her tasks include maintaining project timelines, deliverable and report preparation and submissions. S/he is also responsible for project specific training and supervision of project or task staff. S/he has day-to-day contact with client staff.
The Project Manager II must have at least a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience with tasks similar to those described in the subject area. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Project Manager III: This person is responsible for the day-to-day technical management and leadership for a project/task order. His/her tasks include maintaining project timelines, deliverable and report preparation and submissions, and overall budget management. S/he is also responsible for leadership, project specific training and supervision of task leaders and project staff. S/he liaises with and supervises the work of subcontractors. Maintains client contact.
The Project Manager 3 must have at least a Master’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience managing tasks similar to those described in the subject area. Ten (10) years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree can substitute the master’s degree.
Recruiting Manager This person is responsible for the day-to-day technical management and leadership for recruitment on projects with difficult to recruit populations. His/her tasks include developing, directing and utilizing innovative and creative approaches to recruit rare or difficult to find populations for qualitative projects. S/he is also responsible for adhering to project timelines and providing progress reports. S/he is responsible for leadership, project specific training and supervision of recruiters assigned to the project.
The Recruitment Manager must have at least a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience recruiting hard to recruit populations and managing recruitment on previous projects.
Project Administrator: This person is responsible for the administrative management of the task, such as delivery of progress reports, invoices and deliverables, administering subcontracting plans (as necessary) and ensuring compliance with personnel security and training requirements.
This position requires a Bachelors’ degree and two (2) years of project management experience with government contracts.
Project Director: This person has overall responsibility for all activities, management and leadership of the project. Individuals holding this position also supervise all project staff; plan for and monitor
Research Support Services, Inc. Page 9 data collection, manage timely submission of deliverables, and ensure that projects stay on budget and schedule. They are responsible for client relations for the study.
The Project Director must have at least ten (10) years’ experience managing projects similar to those described in the subject area and a minimum of a Masters’ degree. Doctorate preferred.
IT Director/Security Officer: This person manages the planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the Information Technology (IT) components for projects. Responsibilities include technical design; risk identification and mitigation planning and control, leading the effort in quality data; and conferring with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems. S/he is also responsible for managing data security and handling both for electronic and physical data, monitoring compliance to project specific requirements, and overseeing the training of project staff on proper data stewardship.
