East St. Louis Annex Door Replacement

Q: Drawings show a level 3 ballistic system, but the spec’s show a blast rating and missile impact rating. Can this project be bid with just doing the ballistic spec on the drawings and not the spec section?

A: Those definitions are level III. It must be level III. No exceptions

Q: Are you still looking for a baked enamel or powder coat finish? No clear direction.

We do have a concern using our doors in an existing frame, as our ballistic doors are 2 3/8" thick compared to the standard 1 3/4" for non-rated storefront doors, do you think the frame would accept our door and would the frame be able to withstand the approx.

250 lbs. of our ballistic door?

A: The documents direct the contractor/subcontractor to provide a total system of frames, doors, hardware that meet the ballistic level required. This information can be found within specification section 084213. The drawings go further and indicate that the current headers and jambs should be reviewed and supplemented to resist the ballistic force generated. Reference Door and Window Detail Notes – Sheet AE-1-0 for specific notes. The door and window details also show a combination of new and existing framing.

Powder coated or baked-on enamel is manufacturer specific. Either are acceptable so long as they finished to match the existing frame system.

Q: Bid it per the drawings?

Q: GSA will select the color green from the 16 standard industrial color chart. GSA will select. We understand it cannot possibly match the rest of the building?

Q: This is the most vulnerable entry regarding perimeter security. There must be the temporary barrier in place during replacement?
