About this file
This sole source justification document requests approval for the procurement of radar-triggered trail cameras and sensors from McQ, Inc. on a sole source basis. The requirement is for the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection to obtain equipment to support border surveillance operations across various sectors, including San Diego, Miami, Tucson, and Rio Grande Valley. The equipment is essential for detecting border crossing activity, documenting events, preventing vandalism, and identifying infrastructure sabotage near international borders. Market research found that McQ, Inc. is the only vendor that can meet the requirements as its technology is already deployed by the Department of Defense and other federal agencies in interconnected surveillance systems, providing situational awareness and operational benefits. The justification was approved, and the contract was awarded to McQ, Inc. on September 30, 2021 for an unknown amount under contract number 70B03C21P00000539.
