Gigamon

The United States Naval Academy (USNA) requires a follow-on purchase order to continue existing licensing and hardware maintenance support services for the Gigamon network packet broker appliance. Purchases were last made previously under N0018923P0782. The procurement includes technical support for all hardware and software products, access to online support resources such as knowledge bases, technical articles, and product manuals, and hardware support to include replacement parts for all failed hardware components. In addition software updates and upgrades are provided through online access. Existing Software Part Numbers: GSS-RNL-ENH-PSS: SMT-HC0-X16 (1BK0-1972), SMT-HC0-APF (1BK0-0A06), SMT-HC0-NF1 (1BK0-0A06), SMT-HC0-DD1 (1BK0-0A06), SMT-HC0-ASF - (1BK0-0A06), BPS-HC0-D25A4G (1D20-0A15). Currently USNA utilizes the existing software listed above from Blackwood Associates which were manufactured by Gigamon.

The software currently on hand is required to support the mission and curricular requirements of the USNA. Although Gigamon is the manufacturer of the appliances, Gigamon allows authorized resellers to provide the software and hardware maintenance support. In order to provide the requirement support, a vendor must be authorized by Gigamon to do so.

The supplies or services must be compatible in all aspects (form, fit and function) with existing systems presently installed/performing. Describe the equipment/function you have now and how the new item/service must coordinate, connect, or interface with the existing system.

Other information to support a sole source action:

Document number: 1301164529

Blackwood Associates, an authorized seller of Gigamon has been incorporated into USNA academic course curriculum for the past several years. The software must be compatible in all aspects with existing systems presently installed/performing. USNA has a well-integrated Gigamon device and has built its infrastructure around the Blackwood Associates installed Gigamon solution. Only Blackwood Associates currently has access to the computer codes necessary to provide maintenance support for the Gigamon software; therefore, attempting to switch to another authorized reseller would cost the Government additional time and potential funding. The Gigamon software is essential to the Government’s requirements and market research indicates that other companies’ products do not meet or cannot be modified to meet the needs of the USNA.

The requested support will provide for critical hardware and software support to ensure the appliances are operating efficiently and effectively. The hardware support is required to ensure operability of the appliances at all times. A break in operation with directly impact the USNA’s curricular activities. In addition, the required support will also provide for software updates/upgrades to ensure the appliances remain up to date and accurate which is also critical for the USNA’s curricular activities.
