About this file

This document is an amendment to a federal solicitation for a mobile MRI unit with staffing. The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 23 seeks to lease a 1.5T Siemens Espree mobile MRI unit compatible with Syngo B19B software. The unit must have a standard bore and be no larger than 12 feet wide and 50 feet long. The amendment provides answers to questions from potential offerors, clarifying that only a standard bore unit is acceptable for the patient population, and that while a 12x50 foot size was specified, a conventional size unit is also acceptable. It also states the priority is the Espree unit type rather than a higher-end model or particular software level. No other details on response date, pricing terms, or incumbent were included in this amendment.

Questions & Answers for Solicitation 36C26322R0079 – Mobile MRI with Staffing

Question:

1. In the requirements for the Mobile MRI Unit, it states that “Specifications must be a 1.5T Espry or equivalent with a software level no lower than SYNGO MR E11”

Syngo MR E11 software is not available on Siemens Espree MRI units, only on Aera/Skyra series units.

1. What software is required?

2. Which model MRI is required?

a. Espree 1.5T unit

b. Area/Skyra series

3. Is the priority the software or the unit type?

Answer:

We specified the Espree because the Area is significantly more expensive/month and are usually committed to long term rentals. The Espree will meet our needs. I image if a vender wanted to submit an option they could – also see answers bellow in RED:

1. What software is required? Software that is compatible with the Espree Syngo B19B

2. Which model MRI is required?

a. Espree 1.5T unit

b. Area/Skyra series

3. Is the priority the software or the unit type? The unit

2. The information given says the system minimum is a 1.5 Espree. The Espree is a wide bore magnet. Is that truly a requirement? Or is a standard bore with newer software a viable option?

Absolutely no deviation – standard bore is not acceptable with our patient population.

3. Item number 7, Trailor must be 12 feet wide and no longer than 50 feet.

- Is a conventional sized unit acceptable or is it a must have unit that is 12’ x 50’?

- Is 50’ a hard limitation due to the space available at the site where this unit will be placed?

A conventional sized unit is acceptable.
