Questions and Answers

1. Q: What occupation code and title does this fall under for wage determination?

A. https://sam.gov/wage-determination/2015-5635/23

2. Q: What percentage of this contract will require asbestos handling?

A: All tiles replaced in asbestos containing environments shall be done with proper containment and PPE. A majority of the hospital has an interstitial space that contains asbestos.

3. Q: Will the Contractor be expected to show up every night Monday - Friday (except Holidays), or can they schedule work as needed such as 2-3days of the week to fulfill the weekly list?

A: The expectation is to be available during specified hours. However, scheduling can be coordinated with the shop POC and Contract Office Representative (COR).

4. Q: Will the scope touch the existing grid system?

A: Yes

5. Q: It is going to be a regular ceiling tile? or it will be a washable ceiling tile?

A: N/A, contractor is responsible for replacing ceiling tiles provided by the VA. Should the ceiling tile be washable and not need replacement, it will be the responsibility of the contractor to inform the POC of this suggestion/recommendation.

6. Q: Does the ceiling tile need to be 2'x4', or 2'x2' A: Ceiling tiles are supplied by VA and come in various sizes, including 2x2 and 2x4

7. Q: I want to make sure that the VA will provide the tiles and the actual unit price is labor. Is that correct?

A: Yes the VA will supply ceiling tiles.

8. Q: I was wanting to get a few more details such as square footage of the site or how many tiles are requiring replacement.

A: 1 million ft^2. Tiles are replaced as needed. 5000 tiles per year.

9. Q: Will we have to supply the ceiling tiles being replaced? Also, will we be responsible for disposing of the old ceiling tiles?

A: The VA supplies the ceiling tiles. The contractor shall properly dispose of all Asbestos Containing Material waste (ACM) with the VA Environmental Waste Department at Building 16.
