STATEMENT OF WORK AND CRITERIA FOR
I. TITLE:
Installation of New Water Softener System in the Physical Plant.
II. BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The current water softener system unit is a PA 192 Triplex Water Softener. Each tank is capable of producing 4000 gallons of soft water per day. The minimum water inlet pressure is 30 PSIG and the maximum is 125 PSIG. The tank diameter is 24” and the height is 72”. The power supply is 120V. Currently the system only supplies water for the boilers to prevent hard water going through the boiler tubes. The new system will provide water supply for the boilers and add the cooling towers to prevent fouling of the cooling tower media and inhibit bio-film from growing.
III. OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this contract is to have a Contractor to furnish all labor, materials, supplies, tools, equipment to install one Water Softener. Services performed shall conform to industry standards and this statement of work (SOW). Additional scope as per the below:
· The removal of the existing unit and related piping will be in the mechanical room beside the physical plant.
· Contractor to provide an alternate source of softened water for the boilers during the removal and install, such as softened exchange supply tanks.
· Contractor to turn off the water supply and de-energize sources prior to removal and install.
· Contractor to utilize schedule 80 PVC piping, valves and fittings for all new installations.
· Contractor to tie in the existing water supply, inlet/outlet lines and add the tie in of the cooling towers.
· Contractor to verify the operation of the new water softener, check for leaks and train plant personnel on the operation.
· Contractor to remove and dispose at an approved site of the old softener, piping and valves.
· Contractor to provide owner’s manual.
· Water Softener must be work with the current operational system.

V. LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
a. Offeror must possess a 30-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety card.
VI. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
a. Schedule with Contracting Officer Representative (COR) or Designee five (5) business days in advance prior to start of work.
b. Prior to start of job, all personnel shall have a valid Loma Linda PIV badge
c. Prior to working, ALL energy sources (electrical, water, etc.) shall be locked and tagged out, and upon completion of work, will be re-energized and verified.
d. Prior to work each day, workers or a designated lead or supervisor are/is to check in with the Graphics Control in the plant.
e. Contractor shall conform to the following standards, policies, regulations, governing agency, and any other local, state, or Federal guidelines that are not listed here
