Requests for Information Solicitation 36C26219Q0006 Project Title: Mixing Valves VA Loma Linda
1. The scope of “provide and utilize containment enclosures as necessary” can vary depending on the requirements, so we are looking for a little more granularity on this point. Is the expectation that we build a temporary enclosure with negative air for each sink installation in a patient care/infection risk areas?
VA RESPONSE: no
2. Will enclosures not be required for sinks located in non-patient care and public areas? Is there anywhere that enclosures will be required:
VA RESPONSE: no
3. Is there any expectation for lead time issues on the mixing valves? The project starts 72 hours after NFP and if it takes a couple of weeks to get the valves that presents a problem.
VA RESPONSE: We would hold off on NTP until after we got the valves. We would share order and shipping info to give you as much warning as possible.
4. Can you let us know what permits will be required? This being a federal facility I do not see any permits being needed.
VA RESPONSE: none required at this point
5. Can you provide a detail on the fees? It is listed that the contractor will pay all permits and fees in the solicitation. I do not know what fees to pay as this is a federal project.
VA RESPONSE: no fee
6. It is stated in the scope of work that the work is based on cooler temperature requirements. Why do mixing valves needed cooler temperature requirements?
VA RESPONSE: per 1061 directive anti-scalding as not to impact patients.
7. Can the mixing valves be piped in with flexible hoses that are used for sinks?
VA RESPONSE: yes
8. Can you please provide a detail and specification on the strainers?
VA RESPONSE: there is no strainers just mixing valves.
9. Can you please let us know the size of the angle stops?
VA RESPONSE: ½in x 3/8
10. To replace the angle stops the water in the entire facility will have to be shut down each day. Who is responsible for draining the system and then testing it due to it being opened up?
VA RESPONSE: the government
11. What are the work hours that this work can occur? After hours Need to know about night or weekends as that will impact cost of labor VA RESPONSE: yes, that will be needed in different areas. Estimate approximately 30% of the work will need to be at night or on weekends.
12. One of the vendors asked me if this is for the “old” hospital and I was not sure of the answer.
What building and what address will this work be performed?
VA RESPONSE: This is for rooms throughout the medical center, on all floors according to the workbook enclosed with the solicitation. This is for VA Loma Linda Medical Center, the main medical center, versus the new building. The address for the work is 11201 Benton Street Loma Linda, CA 92357.
13. Solicitation states hours of work to be before and/or after working hours. What is the start / stop times of the hospitals working hours? Are the working hours to be a night shift?
VA RESPONSE: we’ll talk about that
14. Solicitation states performance period to be 90 Days. The 90 days are calendar days correct?
VA RESPONSE: Yes
15. Regarding Petal operated sinks; Are the petals to be removed permanently to install new mixing valves? If so are the faucets to be replaced? Is the Gov. suppling the faucets if they are required to be replaced?
VA RESPONSE: there aren’t that many faucets to replace. Government to replace those.
16. Mixing Valves: Is the Gov. supplying all required mixing valves? Not sure. At what temperature are they to be set?
VA RESPONSE: yes, government is supplying the mixing valves. They need to be set at 110 degrees
17. What will be the required tests for mixing valves and devices replaced for the SOW?
VA RESPONSE: set temp and check for leaks.
18. Can you explain EPA Disposal procedure?
VA RESPONSE: no
19. Will Disposal unit be provided?
VA RESPONSE: no
20. Will rooms be occupied while work is preformed?
VA RESPONSE: we will try to have the room unoccupied
21. Are there any special shut down procedure?
VA RESPONSE: yes shutdown request 21 days in advance
22. The detailed list’s of sinks, per floor that the Government has provided, appear to be incomplete.
