Diagnostic Medical Physics Services
Q&A as of 01/14/22
Question 1: SOW Section 2c states that “The qualified diagnostic medical physicist shall perform acceptance testing of all new or relocated imaging equipment prior to first clinical use.” Will the contractor be obligated to continue to evaluate new equipment annually if it is not listed on the VACCHCS Initial equipment list? Is there an estimate of how many, and which type of new equipment items may be added per year?
Answer 1: Yes, the contractor will be obligated to do the physicists test on all new equipment annually.
Estimated 4 units.
Question 2: SOW Section 2e states that “The qualified diagnostic medical physicist shall provide consultation for additional services as needed, i.e., Safety Training CT optimization meetings, Nuclear Medicine lab audit.” Is there an annual quantity estimate for each of these services? Can any information regarding the current frequency of these services be made available?
Answer 2: We anticipate asking for safety training, normally in the form of advice in short conversations, on an as needed basis only with no estimated frequency for the year. We anticipate CT optimization through quarterly, virtual meetings. We anticipate the Nuclear Medicine Lab audit to be conducted once a year.
Question 3: SOW Section 2g states that “The qualified diagnostic medical physicist shall provide shielding design calculations for each new, replaced, or relocated x-ray imaging system.” Is there an estimate of how many shielding calculations may be required per year?
Answer 3: We estimate three (3) shielding calculations per year.
Question 4: Are the current evaluation due dates for each piece of equipment available? Would the VA be amenable to evaluating systems early in order to consolidate trips to the facility?
Answer 4: For a majority of the equipment, the evaluation due dates are in April. We are open to consolidating trips.
