The purpose of this amendment is to post responses for Request for Information (RFI) and to upload 1 drawing of the cable tray layout.
All other terms and conditions shall remain unchanged.
Attachment 1 - Cable Tray Layout
Charee Harris, Contracting Officer NCO 21
RFI 26 - Fixture type for back of the house rooms B6142,B6139BB6148A,5C139 B6124 – Tele Room, B6139B – Electrical Equipment, B6184A – HAC Room, , 5C139 – Non-Food Storage, The room’s fixtures are existing to remain (See AD-102 & A-101). In general, these rooms are no work, except for what is required for new work in other areas (I.e. The Electrical and Tele rooms for coordinating new work).
RFI 27 Is there existing cable tray for the data on this project? Provide existing layout There is an existing cable tray above the ceilings in the corridors. See Floorplan drawing attachment 1.
RFI 28 - Provide a detail Fire Alarm Scope of work See General Fire & Life Safety Notes on Sheet GI050 – snippet below.
Any modifications to the existing fire alarm system shall be in accordance with class "a" protection of nfpa 101 life safety code.
Submit per section 01 33 23 shop drawings, product data, and samples; and section 28 31 00 fire detection and alarm for approval prior to the installation.
The existing fire alarm system shall remain in place and in use. If any modifications to the system are required, the construction contractor must either hire the current fire alarm maintenance contractor to perform all work or if the work is completed by another fire alarm contractor, the construction contractor must hire the current fire alarm maintenance contractor to fully inspect, test, and certify the work done by another contractor.
Whenever fire alarm work takes place in an area that is being remodeled, at the conclusion of the work, the fire alarm contractor is to test all fire alarm devices within the area of the remodel area whether or not they were modified as part of the project.
RFI 29 - We have been informed that the Nurse call is not tied to the FA system. Can you provide Nurse call provide contact information?
Nurse-Call System is Rauland Responder 5 Nurse Call System. AE Does not have contact information for provider.
RFI 30 - Each patient room is requiring the shower and toilet drains to be moved. My question is what are the existing conditions below? Is there a hard lid? Where is the access? How high is the deck? Is there HVAC equipment that is in the way? What are the procedures for scheduling to get into rooms below?
The 4th floor layout is very similar to the 5th floor – patient rooms with bathrooms that are stacked / aligned with the 5th floor. Contractor shall coordinate work plan (including interim life-safety and infection control plans), Access, and down-time with the COR to ensure minimal interruption to on-going operations. Contractor is responsible for verifying exact conditions, But at a minimum can expect to find hard lid ceilings, floor to floor height is 15’-0”, There will likely be some duct-work in the plenum space at the areas of work (similar to what is on the 5th floor, See M-106A & M-106B Plans). Contractor is responsible for verifying workability of those spaces and what temporary modifications would be required to complete the work.
RFI 31- What type of temp wall system are we using? If McCain or equivalent, there is an extensive amount of time in installing these walls to achieve the anti-ligature threshold. If we purchase a system, we should consider the cost of crating, repairing and storing once job is completed.
Determination of Temporary Construction Barrier walls type / procurement is the responsibility of the contractor. Per GI301 – Infection Control Risk Assessment and Notes, barriers are to be solid, one-hour rated walls.
RFI 32 - Is the VA going to propose the phasing plan or is that something that we will have to develop ourselves with their approval? If they develop, we need to make sure that it makes sense for the “constructability” of the project.
See preliminary proposed Phasing Plans on sheets GI301 and GI302. Contractor is to review and provide their own Phasing & Interim Life Safety Measure Plans that coordinate changes to pathways to egress, temporary barriers, signage, etc. All Phasing / ILSM plans shall be submitted for review and approval by the COR and Medical team prior to installation and construction.
RFI 33 - It was mentioned during the walk that it would a possible cost savings to house the anti-ligature alarm company under our scope as opposed to our subs, because it would help save a significant amount of money in profit mark-up. This would require us to be in-step with our electrical sub for scheduling and logistical purposes.
Determination of coordination and procurement of the alarm scope of work is responsibility of the contractor this was just one suggestion and is not required to be approached in this fashion.
RFI #34 – There is no mention of the “Calculation of Self-Performed/Subcontracted Work” sheet in the submission requirements – is this sheet required to be submitted with the bid?
This sheet is required on all solicitations for auditing of the percentages for self-performed work under the SDVOSB percentages.
RFI #35 – There is no mention of the “A.3 PRICE/COST SCHEDULE” which appears on page 9 of the solicitation – is this sheet required to be submitted with the bid in addition to the SF1442 and the “Divisional Cost Breakout” sheet?
The price cost schedule is just annotating the price for each CLIN as part of the price submission, to demonstrate the balance of the costs.
