PWS (VA PALO ALTO)

PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT (PWS)

VINYL COMPOSITION TILE (VCT) STRIPPING AND SEALING

1.) BACKGROUND

The VA Palo Alto Health Care System has Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT) flooring. Many areas with VCT flooring are in need of restoration. With the current healthcare environment and presence of COVID-19, the VCT in the public and patient hallway areas in of Palo Alto VA

Healthcare system need attention.

The porous nature of VCT needs to be stripped of wax and sealed with a high performance coating to prevent the spread of bacterial and viral infections. The existing flooring conditions pose a serious health risk that must be corrected immediately.

Conventional stripping and waxing is not an effective option for the current state of the VCT flooring at Palo Alto VA Healthcare system. Stripping and waxing does not provide sufficient sanitization and long-term protection for these public used areas. EMS Leadership has identified areas that need immediate attention.

There is approximately 77,340 square feet (ft ) of VCT Flooring.
