Question 1 - We hoped to clarify- Which functions are required on the lifts? Do you require: Scales, power drive, constant charging?
Answer 1- Yes to all please see salient characteristics sheet
Question 2 - Are slings required as part of the project?
Answer 2 – No, slings are not being purchased in this requirement. The patient lift must have the ability to use universal slings, so that the facility may use slings already in stock.
Question 3 - Just to clarify: item c. Must be motorized. Is this motorized raising and lowering? I'm wondering if the intention is to have them as motorized driving mechanism which is more of a homecare function where patients can move themselves on the track or does it only require it to be motorized raising and lowering which is more of the standard for institutions?
Answer 3 - About the basic raising and lowering functions of the lift system, our needs for the ceiling lift unit is to be a motorized, electronic to lift and lower patient by utilizing the hand control and the unit must be capable of lifting patients up off the floor – lifting strap of 96 inches or greater.
In addition, the lift system must have the powered rail positioning lock to promote early mobility.
Question 4 - Is this motorized raising and lowering? I'm wondering if the intention is to have them as motorized driving mechanism which is more of a homecare function where patients can move themselves on the track or does it only require it to be motorized raising and lowering which is more of the standard for institutions?
Answer 4 - In regards to the basic raising and lowering functions of the lift system, our needs for the ceiling lift unit is to be a motorized, electronic to lift and lower patient by utilizing the hand control and the unit must be capable of lifting patients up off the floor – lifting strap of 96 inches or greater due to varying ceiling heights.
Question 5 – It is believed powered rail travel locks is proprietary to Guldmanns and that is the item that restricts competition.
Answer 5- We have not heard this form any other source. However, to address your concerns the following is how the hospital staff plan to use this element.
Positioning lock into the overhead lift allows staff to lock the ceiling lift in a fixed location and do more than just transfers such as:
· Staff can lock the ceiling lift above the patient in their bed attach elastic training bands which allows the patient to exercise upper/lower extremities, shoulders, and pelvis to build strength while they are in bed.
· Staff can lock the ceiling lift above the patient who is up in the chair and attach bands for the patient to perform exercises.
· Staff can lock the ceiling lift in a fixed location place a supportive sling on the patient to provide safe upright standing, balance training and ambulation.
The technical evaluation board will consider those items without this specific feature, but they must demonstrate how their patient lift can be used for the Early Mobility program. Additional information regarding this program is attached for contractor information.
