STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)

Histology Automated Microtome

1. INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW

The Histology Department requires the replacement of the current manual Leica microtomes with two brand name or equal to HistoCore Multi-cut semi-automated microtomes in support of faster more accurate microtomy sectioning.

1. BACKGROUND

The microtomes currently in operation are 100% manual operation. We are in need of introducing automation into this work area. It will not only help with producing the slides for the pathologist in a timelier manner and with better quality, but also help as an ergonomic aspect for personnel. Many hours of repetitive arm movements with the hand wheel might cause discomfort and increase the risk of developing work related muscoskeletal disorders. The automation of these new microtomes will decrease this possibility tremendously.

3. SCOPE OF WORK

PLMS needs to acquire two brand name or equal to HistoCore Multicut semi-automated microtomes that allow for multiple sectioning modes. The equipment should include a power cord and a 1 year service warranty.

4. OBJECTIVES

To acquire two HistoCore Multi-Cut Semi-Automated microtomes.
