B.4 SPECIFICATIONS
Background:
VHA Directive 1137 puts forth the requirement that all VA facilities will have available
Complementary Integrative Health (CIH) services that are considered “List I” services. These
LIST I services are interventions that have been shown to be effective in treatment of various chronic pain and health conditions. One such required service is Biofeedback. Biofeedback is a mind-body technique in which individuals learn how to modify their physiology for the purpose of improving physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Research indicates that biofeedback is efficacious in treating chronic tension headache, migraine, TMJ, chronic pain, arthritis, insomnia, and traumatic brain injury.
Scope:
In an effort to bring GCVHCS in compliance with VHA Directive 1137, GCVHCS is requesting biofeedback equipment and items identified under Section B.2 Price/Cost Schedule. Each clinician will receive Nexus 10 Mk II BlueTooth hardware with appropriate sensors and cables, BioTrace software, and supplies to integrate biofeedback into their clinical practices.
Specifications/Characteristics:
STENS NeXus 10 Mk II Biofeedback/Neurofeedback System or Equal. See Price/Cost schedule for details.
A) optimal signal resolution and accuracy via 8 to 30 independent, 24-bit AD converters
(comparable systems have fewer converters of lower resolution and multiplex data that renders it vulnerable to distortion), B) a sample rate over 8,000 samples per second (the largest sample rate in the biofeedback industry, C) carbon coated cables and active noise cancellation circuitry that provides virtually artifact free data, D) durable brushed metal connectors that lock-in, reduce movements artifacts, and are less vulnerable to damage from frequent use, E) versatility and efficiency in that the NeXus Systems support simultaneous recording from eight to thirty channels including, SCP, EEG, HEG, EMG, EOG, EKG, BVP, RESP, EDA, TEMP, & SPO2
(Oximetry) modalities, F) supports up to 32 GB of flash memory that allows for the collection of more patient data over a longer time frame without having to be connected to a workstation, G) wired or wireless capacity which means no wires to inadvertently disconnect while conducting dynamic muscular reeducation training or working in a group setting, H) portability which allows for transport to group treatment settings, I) design for future capabilities as they become available (Capnography forthcoming), and J) BioTrace+ Software that is comprehensive, powerful, highly customizable, and includes true dual display support with push-through control from the clinician’s master screen in one complete package whereas Thought Technology’s software is sold separately and requires numerous packages to perform different applications.
Equipment for each GCVHCS clinician for a total of (10) NeXus 10 Mk II Biofeedback Packages must be delivered from the beginning of the contract award date through approximately 30
September 2021.
The Government and the Contractor understand and agree that the services to be delivered under this contract by the Contractor to the Government are non-personal services and the parties recognize and agree that no employer-employee exist or will exist under the contract between the Government and the Contractor’s employees.
