About this file
This document is a special notice from the Department of Veterans Affairs regarding a sole source contract opportunity for a Genestudio S5 Prime System sequencer. The Louis Stokes Medical Center intends to solicit and negotiate only with Thermo Fisher Scientific for the sequencer, which automates all steps of targeted next-generation sequencing workflows from purified nucleic acid through variant reporting for DNA, RNA, and cell-free DNA applications. The NAICS code is 334510 with a small business size standard of 1,200. Other vendors may identify their capability to fulfill the requirement by January 20, 2020, but the decision to conduct a competitive procurement rests solely with the government. The point of contact is Rachelle Hamer at rachelle.hamer@va.gov and inquiries must include "36C25020Q0078 | Sequencer" in the email subject line.

SPECIAL NOTICE
NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE
Sequencer
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Louis Stokes Medical Center (CLE VAMC), Medical Service, 10701 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44106, intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(i), Soliciting from a single source, there is only one source that can provide the supplies needed. The NAICS code is 334510 with a small business size standard of 1,200. The VA intends to solicit and negotiate with Thermo Fisher Scientific, 168 Third Avenue, Waltham, MA USA 02451 for a Genestudio S5 Prime System.
The Genexus Integrated Sequencer automates all steps of the targeted NGS workflow starting from purified and quantified nucleic acid. With a single touchpoint and five minutes of hands-on time, the Genexus sequencer automates NGS library preparation (including cDNA synthesis), template preparation, sequencing, primary data analysis, and variant reporting for DNA, RNA, and cfTNA applications. Sequencing on the Genexus sequencer is done on a four-lane semiconductor chip: The Ion Torrent GX5 Chip. Each of the four lanes of the GX5 Chip supports the output of 12–15 million reads, and they can be used individually or all at once depending on throughput needs. Ion Torrent Genexus Software streamlines the NGS workflow by integrating the setup-to-report workflow within a single software ecosystem.
Other persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement by Monday, January 20, 2020 at 5PM EST. Such capabilities information will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. No solicitation is available at this time. All inquiries must be submitted by email to Rachelle Hamer at rachelle.hamer@va.gov.
