Special Notice

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Gainesville VA, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with Multi Channel Systems MCS, a division of Harvard Bioscience dba Harvard Apparatus for the Wireless2100 wireless in vivo electrophysiology recording system. The Wireless 2100 system is the only commercially available digital in vivo electrophysiology recording system capable of wireless optogenetic and electric stimulation. In contrast to analog wireless recording systems, the W2100 is a digital recording system which provides the highest quality signal to noise ratio and does not require additional shielding as is needed for other systems. Furthermore, the W2100 utilizes a common data acquisition platform with the MEA2100, which allows a lab to have a common data collection system for both in vivo and in vitro data. No other in vivo recording system provides a common acquisition platform for in vivo and in vitro data collection. This is a notice of intent and is not a request for competitive quotes; however, any responsible source who can provide an equivalent equipment with these features described above may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than June 28th, 7AM, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
