* = Required Field FedBizOpps Special Notice Rev. March 2010 Intent to sole source - MAZAK Space Gear U44 15212-5319 36C24E19Q0086 N 334516 US Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Regional Procurement Office (RPO) East 323 North Shore Drive, Suite 500 Pittsburgh PA 15212-5319 lynn.portman@va.gov The Department of Veterans Affairs, Pittsburgh VA Medical Center intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with Mazak Optonics, Inc for the Mazak Space Gear U-44. The intended use of this device will be for VA research studies. The laser cutter/shaper is useful for rapidly cutting profiles in metal sheets, tubes, angle, channel, and other three-dimensional (3D) shapes. This package is integral to the machine and will allow the VA to readily translate parts designed in existing Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software to toolpath readable by the machine controller. The simulation will help ensure that no toolpaths are executed that would cause the machine to self-intersect or “crash”, thus protecting the machine and the operator. This equipment is the only equipment available that will fit the existing space and that wouldn’t require structural modifications to the building. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than June 4th, 2019, 4:00, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
