* = Required Field FedBizOpps Sources Sought Notice Rev. March 2010 Thermo Q-Exactive HF-X Mass Spectrometer 15212 36C24E18Q0054 02-26-2018 N 334516 US Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Service Area Office (SAO) East 323 North Shore Drive, Suite 500 Pittsburgh PA 15212-5319 Boston VA Boston VA Research Department requires the purchase of a Thermo Scientific, Q-Exactive HF-X Hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap Mass Spectrometer (MS) with EASY-nLC 1200 System. This equipment will be used in support of ongoing research programs and to enhance and extend research at the VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) to the next level of molecular identification and mechanistic study. This include the following emerging proteomics technologies that are currently unavailable in VABHS: 1) identification of all possible post-translational modifications (PTMs) in proteomes of human tissue and cell samples; 2) unbiased proteomics profiling and multiplexing, peptide quantification by label-free (MRM) and isobaric mass-labeled (TMT) approaches; 3) intact protein sequencing by top-down proteomics; and 4) characterization of single amino acid polymorphisms (SAAPs) or noncoding amino acid (ncAAs) at the proteomics scale. These MS-based proteomics technologies will be applied to total proteins or the whole proteomes of human tissues, biopsies or cell lines, particularly as it applies to VA-focused diseases such as sleep disorders (SD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), bladder ischemia, and other aging-related neurodegenerative disorders in veterans. These emerging technologies and services provided by the acquired instrument will fulfill the increasing needs of research projects within the VA. This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification (large business, small business, 8(a), SDVOSB, etc.), relative to NAICS code 334516. Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Based on responses to this synopsis, the Government may issue this RFQ as a Brand Name or Equal requirement in accordance with VAAR Clause 852.211-73 on eBuy or Fed Biz Ops.
