The purpose of this amendment is:
1. Publish the answers for questions received during the solicitation process.
a. See Below
2. Change closing date from February 25, 2022 to March 11, 2022.
3. Add location and date for site visit.
a. Date: March 3, 2022 at 13:00 EST.
b. Meeting Place: Engineering Office located in the basement floor of Malcom Randall VA Medical Center
Questions and Answers
1. How far away is the power source from the planed chiller/s placement?
<100 feet
1. How far are the chilled water loop supply and return headers from the planed chiller/s placement?
<100 feet
1. What is the diameter of the chiller water connections?
Ewing -6” Main Building – 6”
1. Will both proposed chillers be feeding the same chilled water loop?
No
1. Will the government accept one 1000-ton chiller?
No
1. Will the government accept two 600-ton chillers?
Yes
1. Will the government accept three 350-ton chillers?
No
1. Will the government accept four 250-ton chillers?
No
1. Will the government accept any combination of chiller/s and tonnage that meet or exceed the 1000-ton requirement?
No
1. Will the government accept any combination of chillers that best meet available circuit amperage?
No
1. What is the voltage and phase of the three provided power sources (US8, US9 and US10)?
US8 provides 400 amps. US9 provides 400 amps. US10 provides 800amps via parallel feeds.

11. Considering the available amperage, do you prefer a generator for the necessary power, or the chillers being derated to work off house power?
No Generator needed
11. If derated over a Generator is the preference, will two (2) 400-Ton Chiller at maximum capacity be acceptable?
No - 400 Ton Chillers are not acceptable
1. Does the government have larger/more power sources?
No
1. Are there existing chilled water taps and if so, what size/connection type(s)?
Yes, Victolic 6” – Main Building. Flanges 6’ - Ewing.
1. Are existing water taps located above grade and if so, what is the elevation from grade?
Main Building – 7 feet high. Ewing - 3 feet high.
1. What is the distance from chiller placement to tap points?
<100 feet
1. Are chiller water taps contained inside of a room or enclosed area otherwise?
Main Building – Yes. Ewing – no.
1. What is the distance from chiller placement to MCC or utility power connections?
<100 feet
1. Are there any existing water treatment systems online?
Yes, for Ewing. Main Building will be online soon.
1. Is the operating specification nominal or outside of nominal related to PSI, flow rate, set point temps, etc.?
No idea what this means. We rent chillers every summer and do not have a problem.
1. Each 500-ton chiller will require a designated 480v/3P 1000A power circuit, will these circuits be provided?
No
