Questions and Answers

Answers to questions are in blue below.

1. Does VAMC know if there’s a need to add a new electrical outlet to power new nurse call system or is there existing power outlet that can be used? Existing should be sufficient.

2. Does VAMC know if existing conduit from 110-12 to H303-1 has space to add new 12-strand fiber. New conduit will be required to install the fiber cable.

3. Does VAMC know the fill rate and/or conduit size of existing conduit from 110-12 to H303-1? See

#2 response.

4. Is there any locations for which surface mounted conduits are needed for new nurse call devices?

Possibly. VA is not aware of any locations requiring surface mounted conduit. Vendor will be responsible for identifying locations and installation if required.

5. Does new nurse call cabling need new pathway or can existing telecom pathway be used? New pathway is required.

6. VAMC Main Hospital WILL remain separate on ASCOM version 5. X. CLC and ED Departments will be installed with ASCOM 6.X. CLC and ED will be a standalone system with Unite on version 6. X.

Incorrect. Ascom server will be updated to Ascom 6.2 prior to CLC/ED upgrade.

7. Upgrading main hospital to ASCOM Version 6.X is a SEPERATE effort and new project effort which is NOT included as part of current bid. Correct. See response to #6.

8. Please provide the brand name justification for the Ascom nurse call system? No brand name was requested in the solicitation. The requirement is for a compatible system with the existing

Ascom and Unite software.

9. Will this procurement adhere to the Buy American Act? Yes

10. Are all proposed products required to be approved on the Department of Veterans Affairs VA

Technical Reference Model? Yes.

11. Please provide the approval BY OIT and the facility ISO to use the Unite middleware? No. This is not needed in order for a vendor to submit a quote.

12. The # of beds do not match the request for Patient Stations and Pull Cords. Can you verify the counts for these? Numbers listed in the solicitation are correct.

13. Not sure what is meant by speech ad buzzer devices. What type of device is this? Patient call buttons with voice communication.

14. In the ED department What type of station would go in the OR Rooms? OR rooms do not exist in the ED.

15. There are several rooms that I can’t make out the room’s names. Can clearer drawings be made available? Yes. Drawings will be provided at time of award.

16. In the ED department where will the head-end go? H303-1 located in the Bed Tower.

17. On the 3rd floor there are 26 patient rooms are some for these dual patient room or are all private? The request is for 43 patient stations. Some rooms are dual occupancy.

18. On the 3rd floor are the bathrooms not inside patient rooms for patients or the staff? Inside patients’ rooms.

19. On the 3rd floor where will the head-end go? H303-1 located in the Bed Tower.
