Question/
Response
Company Submitted By
Dated Received
1.
Question: Are the two pictured heat exchangers to be replaced? Are they presently water to water HX? What is the capacity?
ACRO
VA Response: I don’t what 2 pictures you are referring to.
2.
Are new replacement HX to be steam to water?
ACRO
VA Response: Yes (steam to heat and water going through tubes).
3.
If so please provide:
Entering steam pressure? Capacity of steam in BTUs? Water Gpm, Ent and Lvg Temp? Size of existing steam and condensate pipe and distance from the new HX?
ACRO
VA Response: 50psi, water GPM 150psi.
4.
Is there an existing hot water pump, is it to remain or be replaced?
ACRO
VA Response: yes, and yes
5
IF new HX are to be installed what will control the new hot water system? Is it to be tied into the facility control system and by whom?
ACRO
VA Response: Electrical controlled steam valves, VA personnel
6
Is the Solar Hot Water from the panels feeding the heat exchangers to be capped or valved off to effectively kill the solar hot water.
ACRO
VA Response: Piping to be capped
7
How much piping and what size is the existing pipe to be removed per the following contained in the Statement of Work:
ACRO
VA Response: I think 4 inch
8
Will any outages be required? Will any work be required on weekends or non normal duty work hours? 4.4 The contractor shall replace all re-heat system valves in associated with the heat exchangers and reroute the solar system directly to the existing re-heat system.
ACRO
VA Response: NO outages, No weekend, only normal working hours, yes
9
Please clarify specifically what is required by the following contained in the Statement of Work:
“4.4 The contractor shall replace all re-heat system valves in associated with the heat exchangers and reroute the solar system directly to the existing re-heat system.”
This seems to contradict Para 4.3 of the quoted above in item no 7. Please clarify the scope of “…removal of existing Solar Re-heat System?
How many and what size are the valves? What is the pipe size and linear footage of pipe to be rerouted?
ACRO
VA Response: all solar system piping, valves and heat exchangers to be removed and 2 pipes capped.
10
Please advise if any new steam traps or pressure reducing valves, or pressure relief valves are to be installed.
ACRO
VA Response: all steam traps need to be replaced, no pressure reducing valves, yes pressure relief valves and yes to steam control electronic valve.
11
Given the current situation, i.e. Coronavirus; the mechanical room where the solar storage tanks are located along with the steam heat exchangers, there is a door that leads direct outside. Can this door be used to remove old piping, storage tanks, and exchangers, as well as bringing in new heat exchangers and piping? If not what would be the procedure required to bring the old piping, fitting, storage Tanks, and heat exchangers through the hospital?
CA Mechanical
VA Response: Yes, but all individuals need to be screened before.
12
What time of day will this work be allowed?
Monday – Friday 7am -4pm CA Mechanical
VA Response:
13
Are there any facility diagrams available for this project in pdf or AutoCad files?
NGA3
VA Response: NO
14
What is the required/current capacity of steam to supply your systems?
NGA3
VA Response: 50psi
15
Is there a required electrical aspect for disconnect of the solar reheat heat system? I know the solar reheat system is out of service for the steam supply. But I just want to make sure for any back up systems with batteries and other possible tie ins.
