Statement of Work

Background:

The Malcom Randall VA Medical Center at 1601 southwest Archer road in Gainesville, Florida has a Baltimore Air Coil Cooling Tower with a total OF (3) cells. It is currently providing Cooling for the Main Building Chilled Water System. The Cooling Tower fill is beginning to fall apart and needs to be changed.

Objective:

Have a qualified contractor replace the current fill in all cells of the Baltimore Aircoil Company Cooling Tower with new fill. Seal the basin leaks and replace all three fan motors and all six fan shaft bearings.

Fan Motors 40 horsepower Frame - 364T 1200 rpm 230/460v, sf 1.15, encl TE

SCOPE OF WORK

Rent and setup Temporary Chiller to Main Building Chilled Water System

• Rent 400-ton air cooled chiller

• Park Chiller on east side of MEP Garage Door

• Install hoses to hose connections on #1 Ciller

• Connect temporary power from facility to the Temporary Chiller

• This job must be done in Winter to minimize the impact on the Hospital

• Engineering Staff will secure #1 Chiller

• Engineering Staff will start and operate the Temporary Chiller

Replace existing fill in all three Cooling Towers

• Contractor will provide all Crane Services

• Contractor will provide all tools, labor, equipment, supplies and parts

• Contractor will schedule all work with the Contracting Officers Representative (COR)

• Engineering Staff will secure the Cooling Tower

• Remove existing Fill from all three Cooling Tower Cells

• Contractor will provide new fill for the three Cooling Tower Cells

• Contractor will install new fill in all three cells of the Cooling Tower

• Seal all basin leaks on the three cells of the Cooling Tower

East Cell

• Remove Existing Fan Shaft Assembly from Cooling Tower.

Statement of Work

• Adjust pitch and rebalance fan blades to achieve design capacity

• Replace the Fan Shaft Bearings (use weather resistant bearings).

• Reinstall balanced fan assembly in to cell.

• Replace Fan Motor with a new Motor

Center Cell

• Remove existing Fan Shaft Assembly from Cooling Tower.

• Adjust pitch and rebalance fan blades to achieve design capacity

• Replace the Fan Shaft Bearings (use weather resistant bearings).

• Reinstall balanced fan assembly in to cell.

• Replace Fan Motor with a new Motor

West Cell

• Remove existing Fan Shaft Assembly from Cooling Tower.

• Adjust pitch and rebalance fan blades to achieve design capacity

• Replace the Fan Shaft Bearings (use weather resistant bearings).

• Reinstall balanced fan assembly in to cell.

• Replace Fan Motor with a new Motor

Remove Temporary Chiller Provide all documentation to the Contracting Officers Representative

Qualifications/Certifications

• The contractor shall be qualified and have the required levels of professional and technical experience to perform the work required by this statement of work.

• The contractor and all of the individuals working on the project site must have taken the OSHA Certified 10-hour construction safety course.

Safety Regulations

• All applicable safety regulations shall be observed during all work of this contract.

• The VA Safety Officer shall have full authority to see that the contractor obeys all safety rules and regulations relative to the fulfillment of this contract.

• Provide the necessary barricades/signage where required.

Scheduling and Hours of Work

• All work shall be scheduled with the COR.

• The 10 holidays observed by the Federal Government, are New Years Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas or any other day specifically declared by the President of the United States to be a national holiday.
