STATEMENT OF NEED
SPY Elite Imaging System
GENERAL: The Operating Room at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital, 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd, Tampa, Florida 33612, has a requirement for a Brand name or equal SPY Elite Imaging System. This equipment will provide surgeons with real-time visualization and analysis of tissue perfusion during a variety of surgical procedures.
BACKGROUND: The Spy Elite Imaging System has been trialed on multiple cases by four different specialties within Surgical Service: Vascular, General, Plastics, and Podiatry. All of the surgeon evaluations displayed improved visualization and assessment of anatomy and tissue perfusion. This technology enhances the surgeon’s ability to assess perfusion, which may improve patient outcomes. The system provides a reliable perfusion assessment technique that can be repeated multiple times, often within 30 minutes. The process involves no ionizing radiation, and utilizes a non-nephrotoxic fluorescence agent with a very short half-life thus allowing surgeons to repeat intraoperative perfusion assessment numerous times throughout the procedures.
SCOPE: The SPY Elite Imaging System will be utilized by the Operating Room. It will be used frequently amongst the specialties to assess patient perfusion intraoperatively. At present, the surgeon’s clinical judgment is used for perfusion assessment.
