SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS/PRICING SCHEDULE

145 Medical Surgical Beds *Brand Name or Equal*

Equal: Stryker S3 Model # 3005S3PATRIOT

1.1 Frames Specific Mandatory Deliverables, Tasks, Salient Characteristics:

1.1.1 Must be designed to be Medical/Surgical beds,

1.1.2 Must be designed for industrial use in a hospital,

1.1.3 Must have an alert system that is fully customizable and alarms when set parameters are compromised (e.g. brake settings, side rail positions, low bed height, etc.),

1.1.4 Must have a headboard height that is vertically adjustable to allow for a safe and ergonomic height for patient transport,

1.1.5 Beds must have the capability to accurately weigh and record patients’ weights while patients are in any position in the bed,

1.1.6 Control for scale must be automated and must be located where the medical personnel can activate it without having to bend down or move the patient,

1.1.7 Bed monitors must provide local bed status information and alert caregivers visually, audibly, or remotely if pre-set parameters have been compromised,

1.1.8 Brake pedal must be easily accessible when the bed or side rails are in any position,

1.1.9 Bed must be able to monitor and track a patients’ position in at least three (3) zones of the bed,

1.1.10 Pump rack and accessory outlets must be located away from the patient egress points (e.g. at the foot-end of the bed),

1.1.11 Bed must have a retractable frame for patient safety and safe patient handling

1.1.12 Bed must have full up, full down, and intermediate side rails positions,

1.1.13 Head of bed must be capable of movement and lock out at thirty (30) degrees and control must be automated,

1.1.14 Side rails must have two or more patient grip points for safety,

1.1.15 Must be a low bed that is approximately 16 inches high to reduce fall risk,

1.1.16 Bed must be able to wirelessly communicate with the VA nurse call and alarm management system,

1.1.17 Bed must be compatible with hospitals current evacuation devices,

1.1.18 Bed must have a one-button feature that helps patients’ move toward the head of the bed,

1.1.19 Bed must have an integrated microclimate management surface that helps to redistribute pressure and prevent the formation of ulcers. The surface air system must automatically adjust to the patients’ weight, size, movement and the head-of-bed articulation. Advanced microclimate technology helps manage heat and moisture, keeping the patients’ skin cool and dry,

1.1.20 Bed mattress must have a shear management gel layer located in the patient surface area from head to toe that moves freely with the patient to help minimize shear forces at the interface between the surface and the patient,

1.1.21 Bed mattress must have a core gel support surface located in the sacral region which redistributes pressure by buckling and absorbing the patients weight, allowing immersion and envelopment to take place,

1.1.22 Bed mattress must have open gel column design that allows air to flow freely throughout the surface without obstruction, Attachment #1 RFQ 36C24818Q0817

1.1.23 Bed mattress must have an equilibrium cover to equalize pressure redistribution while balancing the microclimate of the skin through highly breathable fabric,

1.1.24 Bed mattress must have denser quality foam around edges to provide support when patient is sitting on edge of bed,

1.1.25 Bed mattress must have a 10-year warranty for the foam and gel part of the mattress

1.5 Vendor delivery, installation and turn-in requirements

1.5.1 Upon award vendor is required to coordinate delivery schedule with Logistics, Biomed and

Nursing Services. Scheduled deliveries shall occur over a maximum duration of a 3-week period. Weekdays, weekends and holidays will all be used inconsideration for delivery of beds to minimize impact on patient care.

1.5.2 Upon delivery of the beds the vendor is required to perform a 1-for-1 swap to include installation of the new bed and removal of the turned-in bed on the same business day. C.W.

Bill Young VAMC employees will not be responsible for the storage of newly procured beds or removal of turned-in beds
