Text version

• Who is responsible for disposing of the old lifts once they are replaced? Contractor

• Is it permissible to reuse the old ceiling hardware when installing the new lifts? No, it is not up to standards.

• Is the ECMS sheet required to be filled out for the installation or replacement process? Yes.

• When the requirement mentions "Must be motorized," is it referring to a horizontal motor? No, they can slide horizontally.

• Could you provide details on the ceiling height where the lifts will be installed? Usually 9ft

• What is the height specification for the space above the ceiling? Usually 18 in

• What is the specific material to which the lifts will be attached? Concrete and or Steel

• Are there any prevailing wage requirements or guidelines that need to be adhered to? Not to our knowledge.

• Can you specify the size and layouts of the tracks? This needs to be identified as work proceeds because each room has a unique lay out.

• Could you indicate the precise distance from the floor to the ceiling? Approximation in most areas is 9ft.

• What type of material is used for the deck's construction? Depending on floors, usually gypsum for interstitial floors.

• Are there any seismic constraints or regulations to consider? No.

• Could you provide the submittal drawings from the original installations to help determine an accurate removal and disposal quote? No, we don’t have them.

• Would room modifications, specifically doors, be permitted if required? It’s possible with hospital management approval.

• Who will be responsible for moving obstructions below the ceiling (e.g., sprinkler heads, light fixtures, HVAC, Nurse Monitors)? Contractor

• Who will be responsible for moving obstructions above the ceiling (e.g., HVAC, structural-framing)? Contractor

• If fireproofing is removed during installation, who is tasked with replacing it? Contractor

• If the track system moves and exposes holes in the ceiling tile, who is responsible for sealing the existing holes? Contractor

• SOW part 7.3. states "Supply and install new patient ceiling lifts; securely mount patiently ceiling lifts to within designated locations IAW manufacture’s specifications; connect patient ceiling lifts to power as required to the existing electrical source within the rooms. Must have the ability to run terminal electrical connections."

Is the vendor responsible for hiring additional trade required to perform electrical work or will the VA provide.

Power is already available from previously installed lifts, contractor must be able to make necessary connections for the install. VA will assist with locking out circuits.

• SOW part 7. o. "Must have a ten-year warranty on all parts and labor including batteries. Warranty shall include all travel or shipping associated with any warranty repair."

For the 10-year warranty, will the VA be soliciting separately for Annual Inspections (PMs), or should the 10-year warranty include annual inspections? Generally, an extended warranty is only effective as long as the annual inspections (per ISO 10535) are performed. The VA would like the inspections to be part of this solicitation.
