About this file

This document contains a federal contract justification and approval notice as well as the related federal contract opportunity. The justification and approval notice is for a sole source contract awarded to Abbott Molecular Inc. for reagents and consumables for the Alinity M system owned by the Durham VA Medical Center. The one-year contract valued at $2,085,119.03 was awarded on February 10, 2021 to allow the medical center to continue COVID-19 testing. Competition was restricted due to the unusual and compelling urgency of maintaining COVID-19 testing capabilities and because Abbott Molecular is the proprietary manufacturer of the consumables for the Alinity M system, for which no other suppliers are authorized.
