Scot Plank Q&A Thermostatic Mixing Valves
1. Should the spare valves include labor in the bid or as furnish only? Yes, labor should be included and shown on designated line item.
2. If labor is to be included in the bid, should we show this as a designated line item? Yes labor should be included and shown on designated line item.
3. What should be done in the areas where the water lines are behind the walls, which will not allow mixing valve installation without opening walls? The areas where most of the water lines are behind the walls are the house keeping closets. They will be removed from the project. See attached list, the removed valves are marked in yellow. If there is an area with no under the sink access, valve may need to be installed in the ceiling above the sink.
1. Spec section 22 05 23 – 17, 3.4 Adjusting D. Please confirm that balancing of the mixing valves needs to be performed by an independent NEBB accredited test and balancing contractor. This can be done by contractor not testing agency.
1. Please provide mixing valve installation instruction for all mop sink and janitor sink locations as discussed at the pre bid walk through. These are being removed from the project.
1. The statement of work, paragraph C. states the mixing valve to be installed is a Watts LFUSG-B. There are several different model numbers of this mixing valve listed on the mixing valve submittal, please confirm which model number is to be used. Watts LFUSG-B-M2
1. Please provide specifications for domestic piping water treatment and testing for the new mixing valve installation and partial system cleaning. Most of these are just getting connected under sink from 3/8” supply lines. Even if they do above the ceiling there is minimal piping work. the only time there would be a need for water treatment and test is if piping was being replaced.
1. Regarding the disinfection, could you confirm the frequency of disinfection, if required?
There will be no new piping added to the project; there is no reason the disinfect the lines.
