1. Is the G.C. responsible for any Electrical work?

a. The G.C. is responsible for minor electrical work associated with illuminated signs and electrical/data work associated with main entrance sign.

2. 10 14 00 – 6c – What are sign type families: 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and what do these numbers relate to? (This system calls out rail backs and black anodized aluminum pieces/end caps for these signs. This system does not appear to match with the drawings.)

a. Sign type families are described in Section 10 14 00 Parts 2.4.C. through 2.4.P.

3. 10 14 00 – Pages 9-11 – What are sign type families 01, 02.1 thru 02.5, 8, 9 and 20? And 3?

a. Sign type families are described in Section 10 14 00 Parts 2.4.C through 2.4.P.

4. 10 14 00 – 11 – Will we be required to provide door tags 4”x12” paper tags with wire for each door?

a. This is only required where it is necessary for there to be a temporary interior sign installed after removal of existing sign and prior to installation of new sign.

5. 10 14 00 – 12b – Replace and missing damaged or illegible signs. We do not know what to provide for this item please elaborate.

a. This item refers only to temporary interior signs. If the signs become damaged or are deemed to be illegible, they need to be replaced.

6. Approximately how high on the building will the exterior beacon signage be located? We are assuming electrical will be provided within 5’ of signage location by GC.

a. The exterior beacon signage is accessible from the North Tower roof. The roof can be accessed via stairs from the A/C shop which lead to a door out onto the roof. All work for the sign can be performed from the roof level. The sign will hang approximately 8 feet above roof level. Electrical work is the responsibility of the G.C.

7. Please confirm that removal and patch/repair is NOT required in this contract.

a. Removal of existing signs is a requirement of this contract. Removal of the signs and any patch/repair work that is necessary after removal is the responsibility of the G.C.

8. At location 4-261 (4th floor), the sign type is RI- . Please provide sign type.

a. Sign type shall be RI-1.

9. Sign type LD-1/FM-1 has no number under quantity. Is the contractor to assume there is one

(1) sign of this type?

a. For sign type LD-1/FM-1 at location G-223B, quantity shall be one (1).

10. Please provide “SIGN TYPE” at the following locations: G-72, 1-160, 2-191, 9-47.

a. G-72 = RI-1. 1-160 = RI-1 w/ Slider. 2-191 = ID-1. 9-47 = ADA-1.

11. Locations 4-192 and 4-255 indicate “Existing Map”. Is the Contractor to assume these signs are not to be disturbed?

a. Locations 4-192 and 4-255 are “Existing to Remain.”

12. Locations 4-193 and 4-254 indicate “Existing Directory”. Is the Contractor to assume these signs are not to be disturbed?

a. Locations 4-193 and 4-254 are “Existing to Remain.”

13. Please provide the “Type Sign” for the Exterior Grade signs at the following locations:

9-40B, G-132, G-135, G-138, G-148, G-152, G-153, G-162, G-245, G-320, 1-90, 2-63, 2-64, 2-65 and 2-186.

a. 9-40B = ID-1; G-132 = DELETE; G-135 = DB-1; G-138 = DELETE; G-148 = RI-2; G-152 = R1- 1; G-153= RI-2; G-162 = RI-2; G-245 = ID-1; G-320 = ID-1; 1-90 = ADA-1; 2-63 = RI-2; 2-64

= RI-2; 2-65 = RI-2; 2-186 = ADA-1.

14. The existing interior signs that get removed, how were they mounted and do you have a Drawing showing existing interior signs that get removed?

a. Existing interior signs may be mounted with double-sided tape or screws. There is no drawing that shows which signs get removed. Contractor shall assume that each new sign being provided under this contract will have a corresponding existing sign that is to be removed.

15. Where will the designated parking area be for workers accessing the construction site?

a. All contractors shall park in the designated contractor parking area at the bottom of

Parking Lot ‘B’ near the salt shed.

16. Has the work area been checked for asbestos or lead?

a. There will be no asbestos abatement or lead remediation necessary for this project.

17. Would the VA entertain alternative sign manufacturers?

a. All signs provided shall match the salient characteristics detailed in the solicitation including the size, shape, color, pattern, and material.

18. How many phases is the VA anticipating?

a. Phasing will be dependent on contractor’s proposed schedule. There is no set phasing requirement.
