a. The purpose of this amendment is to announce a time extension to this solicitation and provide answers to questions received from the Site Visit.

b. Attached is an updated Price/Cost Schedule in which Line Item 12 is edited to reflect the correct quantity of trees to be planted and the USDA Zone applicable for tree selection.

c. New response due date is in block 11 above.

Q.1: Will the material from the stump grinding need to be remove and soil added to level out the area? Also, will the contractor be responsible for the seeding of those area?

A.1: Yes, to both.

Q.2: When the uprooted trees are removed will the contractor be responsible for adding top soil and seeding of those areas?

A.2: Yes

Q.3; Will the contractor be responsible for the removal and disposal of trees and debris off site or is there an area for disposal on site?

A.3: Yes, contractor is responsible to remove and disposal off site.

Q.4: The trees that have fallen along the stone wall by the playground area and fallen on the other side of the fence. Will the contractor be responsible for removal of the trees not on the outside of the fence?

A.4: Yes

Q.5: The Bradford pear mentioned in 3.7.1 really needs to be removed because of the amount of damage to the tree. Do you want it removed or just the damage trimmed out?

A.5: Just trimmed out.

Q.6: Can machinery stay on site during the contract and if so, where at on site? How much space will be made available for machinery?

A.6: Space is available down River Road on the campus by the sewer plant.

Q.7: Are there any state or local considerations for bat habitat that would require a waiver from state or local governments to proceed with the work?

A.7: The Contracting Officer is checking with NY DEC, New Paltz office, regarding the Indiana Bat, which is an endangered species with habitat in this area.

Q.8: What Specific species need to be replanted/ sizes needed? What Season would these need to be planted in?

A.8: Twenty (20) 4-5” diameter trunks 15-18’ in height, several species of Oak, Maple and Pine, as earlier as possible

(we are not the expects). We don’t require any specific species of these trees, but note that we are in USDA Zone 6a.

Q.9: Would we be able to pull stumps out as opposed to grinding some of them?

A.9: Yes

Q.10: Do you have an area where we can dump the wood chips?

A.10: Yes

Q.11: We would need Dig Safe to mark out each area.

A.11: That is correct. A Notice to Proceed will not be issued by the Contracting Officer until this is accomplished.

Q.12: Would the parking lot be cleared? How much notice would be needed?

A.12: With notice, 2 days in advance.

Q.13: What hours are we allowed to work?

A.13: 7:00am – 4:30pm

Q.14: Would we be able to hire non-union workers at prevailing wages?

A.14: Yes, this is a new requirement that is not replacing a previous contract that was based on CBA wages. Refer to the wage determination provided in the solicitation for wages and benefits applicable to this requirement.
