2. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount:
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 2, and the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, NY anticipate a firm, fixed price procurement of three (3) Indego Therapy Devices (exoskeleton sizes S, M, L). The Syracuse VMAC is expanding exoskeletal therapy capabilities with the addition of the Indego exoskeleton device.
The Indego orthotically fits to the lower limbs and the trunk; the device is intended to enable individuals with spinal cord injury at levels T3 to L5 to perform ambulatory functions with supervision of a specially trained companion in accordance with the user assessment and training certification program. The device is also intended to enable individuals with spinal cord injury at levels C7 to L5 to perform ambulatory functions in rehabilitation institutions in accordance with the user assessment and training certification program. The Indego is also intended to enable individuals with hemiplegia (with motor function of 4/5 in at least one upper extremity) due to cerebrovascular accident (CVA) to perform ambulatory functions in rehabilitation institutions in accordance with the user assessment and training certification program.
Estimated cost: $189,230.00
3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
It is the only exoskeletal device with modular design, interchangeable components, can be worn while in a wheelchair, can be donned with one hand and weighs less than 27 lbs.
- Indego weighs 26 lbs – other exoskeletons weight over 50 lbs and require 2 people to move
- Indego can be disassembled by the patient for easy transport - other exoskeletons cannot be disassembled by the patient and require 2 people to move

- Indego can be worn in a wheelchair and a vehicle – a special bench is required for other exoskeletons
- Indego can be used with either a walker or Lofstrand forearm crutches
4. Description of market research conducted and results or statement why it was not conducted:
An “Intent to Sole Source” will be posted to FBO, as required.
