1. Mechanical Dwg. MP-101 shows 5” HPS connection to Main on the Ground Fl. for all Bldgs. However Steam Main connection detail on Dwg. GC-502 indicate to connect the HPS pipe to the mains in Tunnel. Please clarify.
The steam mains are located in the pipe tunnel below the corridor. For bldgs. 3, 4, and 12 – 4” HPS pipes going to all mechanical rooms from Main 8” pipe.
2. Mechanical Dwg. MH-101 shows New Louver & Motorized Damper to be installed in the Service Rm. for each Bldg., however no sizes were provided. Please advise.
Refer to exhaust fan schedule on drawing GC-601 for sizes, and “Exhaust Fan Mounting Detail” on drawing GC-502 for installation.
3. Once project is awarded, when can we expect NTP? Does the 420 day project duration include the time for stopping work during heat season?
NTP will be scheduled as soon as all of the required documentation is received from the awardee. From October 15 to May 15 VA has heat season and these days are not included in 420 day period of performance.
4. On Bldg. # 3 and Bldg. # 4 , removing one of the existing Hot Water Tanks to allow the location of new Heat Exchangers require old steam piping and PRV station and one storage tank to stay to provide hot water to the buildings , after installation of heat exchanger is done , to replace steam piping , PRV stations and cold and hot water piping, interruption of hot water service to buildings will be required since the space available is very limited to accommodate new PRV stations on ceiling , if hot water shut off is required for how many days shall be possible ?
On bldg. 3 we need 8-12hrs, On bldg. 4 (patients occupy building) we need hot water all the time.
5. On Bldg. # 12 Basement , heat exchangers will be located at existing Condensate Receiver location , removing the old Receiver is not possible to drain the steam condensate from existing heat exchanger ,since they have to run to provide hot water to building , how steam condensate can be dump or re-route ?.
The condensate receiver at that location in not in service and is abandoned in place. The condensate pump on the left side of the pit shall remain active.
6. Is there any location on the entire job considered as walk- thru tunnel or manhole as noted on Specifications 3.5 d , ( X-Ray Testing) ?
In Bldgs. 3 & 4 we have a manhole inside the mechanical room and in Bldg. 12 you could have walk-thru access to the tunnel or from tennis court tunnel entrances.
7. Will there be a location available for storage container?
Location for storage container will be specified at Notice To Proceed.
8. Electrical drawings are not showing power and control requirements for motorized steam valves for LPS heating. Please advise.
The old motorized valves are being replaced in kind, all existing power and control wiring shall be re-used to feed new valve.
