Statement of Work

1. General Objectives and Requirements

a. Title: Anatomic Pathology Cassette Printers

b. Purpose: Laboratory service needs a new anatomic pathology cassette printing system at West Roxbury. The function of this system is to ensure that patient anatomic pathology samples and tissue blocks are not hand labelled. This is done for patient safety. Incorrectly identifying a handwritten cassette and creating patient slides against the wrong tissue block are both known errors that can be made when using a manual process. The cassette printer minimizes human error in this process.

c. Background: West Roxbury currently owns a General Data cassette printer and needs a backup one.

d. Minimum Requirements:

· The cassette printer must use laser printing with 2D barcodes.

· The printer must produce permanent, indelible histology cassette printing with high-resolution text and barcodes.

· The cassette printer must print directly onto the cassette, eliminating the need for handwriting on labels.

· Cassettes must have a ≥99.5% scan rate.

· The cassette printer must have a small footprint. Space in the histology labs is very limited.

· The cassette printer must have the capacity to print and organize up to 100 cassettes at a time.

· The cassette printer must have a built-in cassette organization system, which holds a minimum of 100 cassettes.

· The cassette organization system must be able to accommodate at a minimum 4 different cassette types and colors at once.

· The cassette printer must have minimal to no cassette jams during printing.

· The cassette printer must print at a rate of ≥12 cassettes per minute.

· The cassette printer must be capable of both on demand and batch cassette printing.

· Cassettes must have attached lids.

· The cassette printer must not require ribbon, printheads or tapes.

2. Tasks and Associated Deliverables:

a. Training and installation for the cassette printers.

b. Customization of cassette printing

c. Custom scanning functionality

d. One year service warranty

e. No charges for shipping.
